Re: Chatterbox
I worked at NPH intermittently in the phase 1 unit from 2012 - 2017 and I’m pretty sure the paternoster had gone. Doesn’t sound like a good mix with medical students to be honest

Glad to hear it has found a new reason to be used.
Just in case people wonder why its called 'Paternoster' , it imitates the rosary, - 'Our Father', but I'm sure most people know that!

Re: Chatterbox
We always thought it was so named because you had to say your prayers before risking getting on it!

I think that is the official explanation. I don't pray, but I do concentrate well before entering and leaving it.

thanks for that explanation .... I knew the word, but had no idea what it meant - in any context, so I've learnt something today .

It was getting off that could be tricky - with high heels and a mini-skirt!

Re: Chatterbox
Last day in Cheltenham today.
We are moving to near Cirencester tomorrow, if we get our keys. No reason why not.
I've steadily been clearing a cupboard or packing a small box away during lockdown. So the packing in the end has been a gentle rush at the end.
Mostly list making.
And we cannot decide on our fridge freezer. Tony wants a retro red Stoves, that doesn't look big enough in the freezer department: https://www.stoves.co.uk/products/cooli ... 197-retro/
We'd put a small freezer in the garage to compensate
I want a tall fridge, which hasn't got the look I'll admit, and a tall freezer in the garage: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Montpellier-MA ... ooghydr-21
As we've been renting for such a long time, we want to buy nice things, and not the cheapest we've had provided by the landlord (excellent landlord but cheap)
By that mantra, we should get the Stoves.

How exciting to have an excuse to choose nice new things! I think I have an idea where you are moving to - it'll be lovely, especially after waiting so long. I hope you'll be very happy there.

Re: Chatterbox
Aww, thank you both.
We've just decided on the Stoves, and I've placed the order. It looks plenty big enough - and considering we are next to the Co-op, it's not like we are going to struggle for fresh supplies.
Washing machine bought yesterday, we've chosen an eco bubble one that seemingly soaks stains at the press of a button.
Still haven't chosen our shed!
Next up, bathroom cabinet ....

Re: Chatterbox
Good luck with the move Gill
On fridges and freezer - I will never buy another freezer without an alarm that tells you if it has been left open, and looking at that one be warned that like mine the shelves will be removable but not repositionable, so you can't change the internal configuration, they all seem to be like that now and if you are used to repositionable shelves, which all fridges had for decades it's frustrating

Re: Chatterbox
Hadn't thought about those shelves.
It looks like you have 2 or 3 positions on close up for each shelf.
And I'll definitely get an alarm on the garage freezer, if we need one in the end. As doors can bounce, they did in the shop as we were looking, and Tony goes into the freezer more than I; he has frozen gel packs for his back.
He's very likely to leave it open, just like the way he leaves the hot tap running, grrrrr.

good luck with the move - remember to take the kettle, cups and coffee in the car with you - it'll be the first thing you'll want!

Re: Chatterbox
Going back to freezers
It’s easy enough to get a freezer alarm as an add on, I’m tempted by this one

Good luck in your new home Gill.
Re: Chatterbox
Good luck with the move, Gill!! It's been a while coming!! Hope the weather stays dry for you.
The best thing about both the fridge/freezer we had to replace in the middle of lockdown and the new one is that the top shelf has the option of being a half shelf, which gives you a bit of extra space for tall items.
The Stoves one looks great!

Hope it goes well Gill
We have a Stoves induction hob and its splendid so I deffo vote for the Stoves fridge/freezer.

Re: Chatterbox
That's a great shelf idea, Bea. Too late for me now, but never mind.
And those gadget alarms look excellent. You can never have too many gadgets I say (utter cobblers of course, you can indeed have far too many gadgets).
Tony's not packing very efficiently, so I need to order some more packing boxes.
He's going through them too quickly.
Kettle and accoutrements, toilet roll & new soft close toilet seats will be taken over in our car. Yes.
The little old lady nextdoor was upset yesterday that we are going. Awwww.

Re: Chatterbox
For the first time we've got an induction hob too. I've got a standalone induction plate/ gadget, that you plug in. So I know all my pans will work fine.
I use it when we go out for a long walk, and can come back to a slow cooked one pot meal.
I really hope it too is a Stoves now, but that might be optimistic on my part.
We only had an hour viewing back in March. All other attempts at views have been using Estate Agent photos, that frustratingly have been looking the wrong way, or have cropped off the detail we've wanted to see.
