Moral of the story: don´t believe everything you read.
It has to be cook; taste; cook; taste; cook; taste.
It has to be cook; taste; cook; taste; cook; taste.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Re the potatoes, I'm sure it was steam from the chicken which prevented further browning, It just surprised me as I'd expected the bits sticking out to be crisp because of how long they'd been in the oven - I think, even when nothing is added, that new pots take longer than old to resemble any sort of roast potato. Old potatoes are best!
Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
For the first time in ages we had cauliflower cheese for tea tonight - heavy on the cheese! One of my favourites but far too calorific unless its high days or holidays! Had it with beetroot tart and a baked potato, pastry and carbs so doubly decadent! Early for us too as we're skyping friends later.

Love the sound of everyone’s food.
We roasted par boiled new potatoes on Monday...with olive oil, rosemary and garlic. They weren’t crunchy as such but had a pleasing fudginess to them.
Last night we had Thai chicken supremes (is it called a supreme when it’s part breast and leg?) We marinaded them in a Thai paste and roasted them. Thai crispy skin was wonderful! We had it with sticky rice and soy and toasted sesame seed coated greens.
Tonight we had linguini with tomatoes and prawns (plus lemon, garlic, white wine, parsley and butter). OH added parmesan to his - heathen!

I don't eat chicken but I think supreme means when the tender fillet is still in place, which is usually removed before breasts are sold. I'll stand corrected of course.
Sesame seeds toasted? Big fan, except I usually forget about them, doh. I'll now remember for fine green beans in the fridge so ta for that

Lazy pasta bake: fresh ravioli cooked in the oven in roast tomato passata, mozzarella stirred in and parmesan scattered on top about three quarters of the way in. Torn basil scattered to serve. A little butter when in there as an experiment too.

A chicken supreme is the breast off the bone with the first part of the wing bone left intact https://www.ocado.com/products/brookfie ... -282086011

Thanks Pampy! Yes, that’s it. It copes with a roasting in the oven so much better on the bone than just the breast.
We had grilled salmon on a white wine, lemon, pea, spinach and tomato risotto for dinner. It used up the last of the veg from the fridge. Need to shop tomorrow.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
I used the last of the lamb to make stuffed veg tonight
I hollowed out 2 halved courgettes to make boats, and split a red pepper and removed the core
I minced the lamb in the Magimix and then chopped onion, carrot, celery and garlic, which I fried in olive oil before adding a choppped tomato, a squirt of tomato purée, a little gravy, thyme, ras el hanout, Aleppo pepper and the lamb, a splash of water. Simmered for a while then stirred in some soaked couscous to the right consistency
Stuffed the veg, drizzled with evoo and baked with a little water in the base of the roasting pan until veg cPoked and top browned (would have done better to cook 25 minutes covered & 25 minutes uncovered but was fine, half tonight half for tomorrow.

Tonight we had penne in a roasted tomato sauce, topped with rocket, feta and balsamic.
Dessert was homemade chocolate and walnut brownies served with some berries from the freezer cooked with a splash of cassis (not for the kids) with a small puddle of double cream.

Tonight is Madhur's lemon and coriander chicken with Madhur's Gujarati green beans and rice.
One of our favourites.

I made a potato hash with peppers, onion, facon, jalapeño and spinach for brunch. I added smoky harissa to the pan too plus some grated cheese. I really enjoyed it, but have been too full to eat much else today. I just had toast plus the last of the vegan apple cake I made the other day for supper.
Tomorrow will be what was planned for today’s tea. I’ve got a lovely romanesco from my veg box so am going to roast it whole with Indian spices. I’ll serve it with a chickpea curry and some veg rice I think. Will see what I fancy tomorrow.
I’ve got some plums that need using up so I’ll also make a frangipane tart I think.

Don't have a huge stock of fresh stuff in at the moment, so last night we had the tahini peas from here:
https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/s ... vegetables
along with griddled halloumi drizzled with a black honey sauce - which was warmed honey with the addition of ground black pepper corns, onion seeds, coriander seeds and aleppo chilli flakes. 500g of peas made rather a lot but it was so good the two of us managed to scoff the lot!

I made feta saganaki last week and drizzled that with honey and toasted sesame seeds, that was delicious too!

Did you happen to have all the other ingredients? It caught my eye the other day and I thought it looked really promising, but we haven't got any radishes or spring onions and not many fresh herbs ...
Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Well I had the mint and the parsley in the garden but didn't have the radishes or the spring onions. Missed the radishes out and used ordinary white onion instead. Must admit was so delicious I'd be reluctant to miss the mint out but I think the parsley could be swapped or omitted without making too much difference.
