I like a Fino, or a Manzanilla - I have one every evening at 6.00pm. Years ago I tried the Morrisons one and didn’t care for it, but from the sound of it, it has improved. I’ll give it another go. I enjoy both the Tesco and the Sainsbury Fino, they are quite similar.

Once got a nun drunk on sherry
It was at some Christmas event that had a bar although it was in a school and we were mainly sixth formers
She was offered a drink in every round and elected for sherry as she regarded it as not very alcoholic (she knew it did contain alcohol) and it only came in a dinky little schooner. She was visibly tipsy by the time she was run back to the convent.

That’s a bit like me at a party many, many years ago when someone thrust a port an lemon in my hand - I thought “mmm, this tastes good” so I had quite a few more   . Next day I had one of the worst hangovers of my life, it was years before I drunk port again and I definitely treat it with respect but I do now enjoy it with cheese and biscuits after a meal.

Cheers

Yes, I can imagine, the port in a port and lemon would probably not be the best, very hangover.

'Once got a nun drunk on sherry'

Years ago the father of a friend was at a big event. He decided he’d stick to Coke with the meal so quaffed away merrily. He hadn’t tried it before, so didn’t realise he was drinking Pimms and was flat out in no time.

Pimms terrifies me! I’ll have one, but that’s it.

I normally go for the pale cream (sorry if that offends anyone…🤣😂🤣). Seriously, I do like a sherry occasionally.

So do I. And I deserve one after the battle of the biscuit(s).

Thirteen different ones in three days. I still need to ice a few of them (ran out of red and pink food colouring), but most of them are ready. Axel hoovered up the broken ones.

Prost!!!!

I buy the cheapest of the cheap dry sherry for cooking (Chinese/Thai), but to drink I like Croft Original.

Slightly different, but is anyone else finding it hard to buy their sparkling water of choice? We have a local bottling plant, but yet it doesn’t seem to be available in any local supermarket??

I found today’s Infinite Monkey Cage - a fairly serious look at what makes wine taste so good - really interesting and entertaining.

Might be a bit more technical than some people want.

Chris used to regularly enthuse about a dish his first wife made. Chicken a la King. Apparently it was sherry based and the best thing he’d ever eaten. :(

Don’t think I’d necessarily put sherry in Chicken á La King - isn’t it only a fancy name for leftover chicken or turkey fricassee?

no, chicken maryland. he got quite heated over peoples 'wrong' recipes - and pairing it with banana.

He also thought that popovers were the original Yorkshire Puddings and that they were far superior and would argue that point ad nauseam
