At the risk of being repetitive I'm copying the cold drinks links I posted from the old mb. Saves always hunting for them for measurements. I'm debating going for a nimbu soda ...

Iced tea is always good, KC2. I like orange pekoe and I like mine without any sugar at all, poured over ice with a nice wedge of lemon. OH likes it sweet.
My go to summer cold drink is a tall glass of ice, lime wedges, squeezed, topped up with sparkling water.
This is one I saw on Serious Eats a couple of years ago (before it got bought out and ruined IMO). Been meaning to try it but never have any black salt.

I've posted this before but re-posting as it's so seriously good - best iced coffee. I sometimes blitz it all in the blender like granita.

Blitzted Lassi is really good, too. Measure ice to fill a tall glass, dump into a blender, add some plain yogurt (about 150 - 200ml give or take) and a good pinch of salt. Blend and pour back into the glass with a sprinkle of ground cumin.

Re: Beverages
Nice ZeroCook
I’m just tipping down cold water at the moment
Changing the direction entirely, I usually drink Lavazza Rosso coffee, freshly ground and made in an espresso machine
But currently I have Lavazza Espresso, perhaps a little smoother as a shot, but it seems much nicer to me when lengthened to an Americano

Re: Beverages
Interesting re the coffee, Sue.
Pleased to see Lassi mentioned. My hosts on Sunday (one of whom was of Indian origin) served the most delicious diluted iced cordials (raspberry with real berries floating in it) and lime with mint. They also offered two types of Lassi made in a similar way to Zero's recipe. The one I had was rosewater and cardamom and was one of the most delicious drinks I've had in a long time. The other included turmeric but I can't remember what else. Not cumin.

Re: Beverages
The Turkish equivalent of lassi is ayran, which is usually lightly salted, in fact I’ve seen bulk packs of ayran delivered to local Indian restaurants
Re: Beverages
we are drinking 'cold brew' coffee over ice, at the moment.
make (real) coffee in a jug or jar with cold water, leave for a couple of hours or overnight, filter out the grounds and pour over ice.
no bitter fraction, it has the smooth, round taste of tia maria without the sugar or alcohol content. i am a convert.

Re: Beverages
I always think of iced coffee as a milky drink but was wondering today about making something similar to what you suggest. Sounds nice.

Re: Beverages
Going back to premium instant coffee - I got the Aldi Alcafé “Barista Moments” one to bring away with me
I got the Intenso, very good

They also do a standard strength and a decaf, £2.29 well worth a try

Re: Beverages
I bought some M & S Italian style instant for work and it's quite nice.
Re: Beverages
Sue - I’ve just been looking at that in Aldi and pondering, wish I’d bought it now.Stokey Sue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 8:09 am Going back to premium instant coffee - I got the Aldi Alcafé “Barista Moments” one to bring away with me

Re: Beverages
Someone mentioned a very dry tonic water.
I recommend London Essence, dry and slightly bitter.
I like it.

Re: Beverages
Our guests yesterday brought us this - we'd never heard of it let alone tasted it!
It's fab!!
ETA, I've just had a thought that it might have been mentioned earlier in this thread when we were talking about coffee, so will read back and see ...

Yes, found Scully's post, well, I think we'll have to make it ourselves now!scullion wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 1:17 pm we are drinking 'cold brew' coffee over ice, at the moment.

Re: Beverages
you can heat it up and still keep the mellow flavour - but as a long drink with ice it's a definite in this weather.
Re: Beverages
Ah, that's good to know, too
I'm thinking of making it with ground decaff and having it as dessert over vanilla icecream after lunch. I've kind of given up anything caffeiney after mid-day and used to be very partial to cold coffee over ice cream but never got round to bothering to get decaff beans and so just stopped having it in the afternoon.
