If anyone’s looking for a good, easygoing programme to watch then I definitely recommend The Chelsea Detective, it starts on Wednesday 11 September at 8.00pm on the U&Drama Channel. I have already watched it on the Acorn streaming app and really enjoyed the series.

Cheers

I've still got some watching to do, but I did try the Turkish Detective (still on iPlayer), I watched the first episode and enjoyed revisiting Istanbul, but just too much subtitling for me

We just watched the BBC4 Anatomy of a Crime, Sambre, https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m ... c_team=BBC
which was really very good indeed. An interesting approach in that it looked at the experience of each of the actors involved in six separate episodes. I won't say any more because I don't want to inadvertently write spoilers, but we would recommend it.

We watched the first two episodes when they were on BBC4 and then watched the next four over a couple of evenings as they've all been released on iPlayer.

If you have Amazon Prime then do watch “A Very Royal Scandal”. The acting is absolutely fabulous. Michael Sheen, Alex Jennings, Joanna Scanlon and Ruth Wilson. So good.

Another Acorn TV drama/comedy is starting on the Drama channel on Sunday at 8.00pm. It’s called Recipes for Love and Murder. It’s another series I really enjoyed.

ludwig, bbc1 wednesday 9pm or all on player if you want to binge.
anything with david mitchel is worth watching, i think, especially as there are quite a few excellent supporting actors dotted in there, too.
the first episode (and half of the next) was good.

I enjoyed it, not heavy going, thought Anna Maxwell Martin was an excellent foil for this variant of Morose Mitchell. Nearly choked when Ralph Ineson's voice cut in, in a flashback (for me) to The Jetty. Keeping my eye on young Simon who clearly wants to be Watson to his Sherlock (or something)

I was stuck for something to watch last night (I was recording a couple of things) so I had a flick through Netflix looking for an easy going Sundayish type film and I found a film called The Dig. It’s a true story of the discovery of an Anglo-Saxon burial ship in Suffolk just before the outbreak of WWII. It has a great cast and I think it’s well worth watching.

Definitely going to need new glasses as the old prescription blurs everything so I’m still really looking out of one eye at the moment  . Unfortunately, I might need reading glasses as well as I now can’t read with my left eye either  - whoever said the cure is better obviously lied….

Was that Sutton Hoo, NLB? Sounds interesting.

BTW, I was able to get my normal verifocals plus some reading glasses as part of the 'buy one, get one free' deal at Specsavers. I was surprised as the lenses are different but it's worth asking at your opticians.

Shame you are finding so much adjustment NLB, will you need the other eye done?
I had both eyes done, 10 days apart, then waited three weeks (actually four as Xmas got in the way), then got terrifyingly expensive varifocals, but worth it because my prescription hasn’t shifted since.

EM I’m not really surprised they let you have reading glasses as the second pair, varifocals are genuinely bespoke and quite expensive to make, reading glasses are quite simple and possibly even made from a wardrobe of readymade lenses, like ready readers but better quality.

Now I’ve finished Ludwig, and I’m working my way through the House in Time though that’s one hour a week, what else? I’ve still got to catch up on Sherwood and I might try Grace which completely passed me by initially, I think I thought it was a silly American drama because of the name which doesn’t really suggest John Sim policing Brighton to me at least. I tried The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder but think I’m too old for a bunch of sixth formers.

Showtrial (BBC1 Sunday evening) is quite good. Michael Socha and Adeel Akhtar are both compelling to watch and there's quite a few intriguing plot lines to follow.

If you want something lightweight, The Chelsea Detective (stream on U&Drama) is entertaining.

Also on U&Drama, I watched the first episode of Blackshore on Saturday. I'm not sure how well it's going to develop, but I'll watch one more episode at least!

No - it is new.

Interesting fact for those who have to decide whether to watch live, or stream. Watching shows with adverts, if you can't fast forward through them, is usually quicker if you stream. Live programmes which run for an hour are often only 45 minutes when streamed - fewer adverts.

Not easygoing in the slightest , but Monster, the Menendez brothers programme is harrowing with excellent performances. On Netflix

This is why I like to record, the pause and rewind controls are still the most precise
