Non food related TV
Re: Non food related TV
Has anyone seen The Jetty? We finished it yesterday. Hmm, very mixed feelings, and I did find it quite confusing. I'm afraid I kind of missed the then and now until the final episode
I thought it dealt with some sensitive topics well, but otherwise I don't think I'd recommend it.

Re: Non food related TV
I was wondering about The Jetty, the trailer didn’t appeal but the review in the paper was that it is better than expected.
Re: Non food related TV
Yes, that was why I thought it worth a go, Sue. If you do decide to watch it, I'd be interested in your thoughts!
Re: Non food related TV
I also missed the fact that a big part of the first episode was 17 years in the past, until I read an online review of it. Made more sense after that. Without giving spoilers, using different names in the different time zones, for one of the main characters, didn't help either!KeenCook wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 9:59 am Has anyone seen The Jetty? I've only watched the first 2 episodes but will continue with it.

Haha, Suelle, glad it wasn't just me

Glad you liked Troppo - it's only on the third episode of season 2 here, so I expect you'll be able to see it soon.northleedsbhoy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 6:31 am I’ve watched the first series on Amazon Prime and really enjoyed it. I’ve just looked and there’s only the trailer for series 2 available so that means it should be showing soon hopefully.
Shame you can’t get High Country and it’s odd it hasn’t been shown on TV in Australia yet. Leah Purcell was excellent as was Sara Wiseman who plays her wife.
Yes, I think it's odd we can't get High Country here but it's on Foxtel, for those who have that. Just not on free-to-air TV
Re: Non food related TV
I started on High Country last night, really enjoyed it especially the scenery. Whilst it’s quite slow paced I’m certainly invested in ‘who dun it’

Rainbow,
‘Glad you liked Troppo - it's only on the third episode of season 2 here, so I expect you'll be able to see it soon’.
All 8 episodes of Series 2 are on Amazon Prime from today, don’t know if I’ll binge watch them but I’ll have finished them by Monday at the latest….
Cheers

I stuck with The Jetty (and I had guessed whodunnit early on, but not the additional twists).
Enjoyed it but did wonder how Ember ever got through police training in the circumstances and a few other gaps
Might try the Aussie ones

I've got the Jetty queuing up, but last night caught up with the last 4 episodes of The Gathering. Eye opening !

NLB - you'll be more up to date than us then!! We're just watching in weekly instalments - the old fashioned waynorthleedsbhoy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 2:09 pm Rainbow,

Rainbow
I’m on episode 5 of Troppo now and I think this series is even better than the first possibly because I know the stories behind the main two characters. I’d also forgotten how good the theme song is.
Great scenery but I couldn’t live somewhere like that - too many crocodiles and snakes plus it would be too hot and humid
Cheers

I’m streaming the first episode of this at the moment. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/yor ... by-the-sea
Worth a watch if you love the Yorkshire coastline. No celebrities involved. So far.

I thought Jenna Colman and the women who played her mother and daughter were excellent, and they didfig convince as a family. As for Amy - the knee socks said it all
Re: Non food related TV
NLB - good to hear you're enjoying the series. I think we've seen about 4 episodes now and still enjoying it. Have to agree about the snakes and crocodiles, thoughnorthleedsbhoy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 6:39 am Rainbow

The olympics seem to have taken over our viewing time for the moment!

There’s a lot of Twitter excitement about BBC4 on Tuesday night. I love her!
