We've just, hopefully, set up the new Ring doorbell. OH has added me as a User. We haven't screwed it onto the wall yet, or set up the Chimes we had to purchase separately ... need to lie down now :D :D
Why is it always so stressful trying to do this sort of thing ... I guess The Young wouldn't have this problem :D :D

Don't you believe it, judging from requests on local FB for help/competent installers for things I can certainly do myself with patience, the young are as inclined as ladies of their great grandma's generation to find "a little man" and pay for the job. People take things into the dry cleaner to have a button sown on, and I don't think most of them are using their £1K smartphones to do much more than Google, WhatsApp and social media, and of course Spotify/

All installed - phew! Shame about the actual ring sounds and the volume, which is extremely loud. We haven't worked out how to adjust it yet, might need a call to customer service.

I’m also looking for a ring type doorbell- does anyone know roughly how long a set of batteries last? I don’t know whether to go for a wired or battery system.

If you can, go wired. The batteries seem to need recharging fairly often and we are not that impressed.

It’s a while now since I left Harrow but my neighbor had a battery one and charged it a couple of times a week. Mine is hardwired.
