It was possible to buy chipotles from Edible Ornamentals in Bedfordshire. It was run by an American chap and his family, they were at the chilli festival every year. They seem to have sold it or passed it on a generation and it’s now called Chilli Ranch. I see their online shop has got a bag of 10 chipotles for a fiver, presumably plus p&p. Mexgrocer sells a kilo for £42, they’re not cheap.

I have got some that I have intended making into adobo but haven’t yet done so. I really ought to do that.

I have just read a similar article in the DT, sorry the pay wall won't let me link it. I always check the Ethnic Food shelves but have never seen any of the items mentioned, except some Japanese mayonnaise.
We are obviously gastronomically deprived in Cyprus
