Did anyone watch Nadiya's new series about spices tonight?

I liked some of it but was bit annoyed that 'curry powder' was one of the 8 spices in her box. How many additional spices were in that?

Also concerned about her trailing shawl-style hijab as she hovered over the gas burner :?.

I can't watch her now - I find her 'effervescent' style really irritating.

Did she say which curry powder? There are many different types as we know, all requiring a different mix of spices, especially if you make your own.

More like eighteen spices in her box......!

I fell asleep while watching it on catch up - not Nadiya’s fault, tail end of a bout of tonsillitis.

As well as the spice box didn’t she use two different fresh chillies and a quarter jar of lime pickle? Quite a lot of added spice

I was a bit annoyed that she used “lentils” and didn’t specify the type (this is a recurrent issue with recipes, my local refill store sells 5 or 6 kinds, not really interchangeable) but she mentioned soaking for 12 hours to cook from dry and a quick Google suggests generic supermarket canned lentils are brown lentils in the small print.

Also of course a lot of baking, don’t think I’m the target audience

Update

Post by mark111757 »

Yeah I know it has been awhile since an update. We had 2 months of COVID to deal with and the aftermath including boredom and lack of sleep. Taking time to get caught up. Did not get it this time thankfully. Let's hope it is not bad again

What did we think of Monica's skills test?
I'm really not sure I would order fish with turnip and coconut sauce.

I thought that too WW - filleting brill definitely a skill test, and I suppose getting the coconut milk to form a sauce without splitting too, but not a dish I'd want to order

Did anyone watch 'Mary Makes it Easy' - with Mary Berry & Mel Giedyoyc on a supposed camping trip?

Not overly impressed. Would you sieve raspberry pips whilst camping?

That sounds like her simple picnic that involved several wicker hampers and a vintage Bentley

A Berry recipe for “Tartiflette” came up on my screen yesterday - required chicken breasts, mushrooms, and Parma ham that definitely shouldn’t be there though it did include the original potatoes and Reblochon, though not enough cheese
