What are you eating today?
Re: What are you eating today?
Must be something in the air Rocky … I am making a sort of Asian broth with ramen, various bits of veg and some chicken from yesterdays potroast.

A simple one tonight as we have both been working today.
Macaroni cheese with crispy bacon bits on top, and a big mixed salad.

And I made a Chetna Makan 30 minute dahi murg, it was good. It took me rather longer than 30 minutes though.

I make that fairly often and yes it does take me longer than 30 minutes too!miss mouse wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 6:52 am And I made a Chetna Makan 30 minute dahi murg, it was good. It took me rather longer than 30 minutes though.
Leftover curry for lunch. The aubergine worked well, I baked hunks brushed with a little oil before adding to the curry so they didn't take forever to cook. I'd do that again as the aubergines were nice and soft but still held their shape. Tonight it's cottage pie with various veg and extra gravy.

Re: What are you eating today?
I just had a rather early dinner of baked potato with smoked cheddar, smoked garlic granules, Bungay butter and lots of black pepper. I was really looking forward to it, and it did not disappoint.
Re: What are you eating today?
It was very successful, definitely a method I'll do again.KeenCook wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 2:47 pm
I'm doing a roast chicken tonight and am going to try Felicity's "perfect" method: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyl ... st-chicken
I'm going to stuff the cavity with a load of fresh herbs and probably half a lemon ...
Re: What are you eating today?
Ha ha Suffs. Hope your ramen was nice. Ours was gorgeous.
Good to know KC. Thank you.
Mum is here and rarely eats South East Asian flavours so I made pork larb (including toasting and grinding sticky rice) served in lettuce cups and some prawn fresh spring rolls.

The ramen was very good thanks Rocky.
Yesterday’s supper was a potato and onion tortilla with a tomato and cucumber salad … the first tomatoes from our garden and the cucumber a gift fromNDN.

Yesterday's cottage pie was much enjoyed, my nephew ended up working so couldn't join us so there's enough leftover for DS2 and I to have a small portion each for lunch. Chicken, pea and rice traybake for dinner.

Leftover traybake for lunch. Tonight it's pasta with a chorizo and veg sauce using some very ripe home grown tomatoes.
Re: What are you eating today?
not totally sure yet - but i do have some raisins soaking in rum...
ps. my partner has chosen thai green curry - haven't had that in a while - followed by (hopefully) rum and raisin ice cream - or i may leave the raisins soaking until tomorrow (they won't spoil) and we'll finish off the piña colada one.

Oooh I’ve missed a day … yesterday’s supper was a definite cheat (after an afternoon at choir). R was Wrose Southern Fried chicken thighs and drumsticks with Wrose frozen oven French fries and a Lambs Lettuce salad.
Tonight we had panfried lamb’s liver with crispy smoked streaky bacon, fried onion ‘marmalade’, buttered new potatoes and runner beans from the garden … and a generous dollop of English mustard for me. I love English mustard with liver.

Re: What are you eating today?
Tum being a bit delicate, I made macaroni cheese last night, I rechecked a few recipes and the amount of cheese suggest for 2 portions varied from 50g to 150g, I always make 2, it's not worth making a béchamel for one. I used a bit less than 100g in the mix and a tiny bit on top, seemed about right, but I should have boiled the macaroni a minute mire, it soaked up some of liquid from the sauce during baking, so it's slightly on the dense side, though within the acceptable range.

Pizza express last night. The food took 45 minutes to arrive because ‘the printer had broken’!?!? Lots of grumpy customers. Did use the buy onr get one for a £1 offer though. Still camr to £47ish. (Dough balls, two drinks, no desert.)
We both had pizza. They have ‘Mac &cheese’ on the menu as a main.
Tonight, another very cheesy baked potato. I don’t think I had lunch…
I hope you feel better soon, Sue.

Re: What are you eating today?
1 portion dough balls
2 classic pizzas
a glass of red wine
a glass of lemonade
£42.97 with a 12.5% tip included but also a £10.75 discount.
The glass of wine bumped it up at £8.95. Nothing special. So without the discount and without the wine would have come to more or less the same (a little more. We have to let T have glass of water, at least!)
It's hard to eat out for less than that in London, these days. Most moderately priced places (pubs etc.) are charging £17-20 for a main course in SE London, possibly more in central London. But this was Pizza Express so same prices all over the country?
I succumbed to a later dessert tonight of a sliced banana with cream and confiture du lait au miele.

I made this last night, sort of.
Didn't bother with the yoghurt as it seemed wet enough.
I would do it again, roast mushrooms with harissa was new to me and really nice.
It didn't need both sausages and chicken so we will have the sausages cold today.
We really enjoyed the chickpea salad and I will make that again.

That looks good WW.
We had a takeaway Vietnamese on Wednesday - a chicken salad, a noodle dish with pork and lemongrass meatballs and a chicken curry.
Last night I made a cod with chick peas and chorizo in a tomato sauce served with broccoli
