My NY friend recommended it and it's really very good!
Thanks for this KC. We had it last night. Delicious. The only change I made was to put some sliced spuds in the pan for 20 minutes before following the rest of the recipe (but marinating for longer as suggested). We are going to have the leftovers with pasta tonight
Glad it was successful, Rocky! Good idea re the spuds :thumbsup

I have eaten an awful lot of sugar today... (Being in the Office on a Monday consolation.)
Tomato soup and a little black forest dessert from Pret for lunch. Plus madeleines and chocolate digestives :?
Dinner will be cacio e pepe. Not homemade, but trying out a pot of (fresh) sauce from Waitrose. It tastes nice out of the pot, and I am looking forward to it.

J made this for tonight's dinner, having harvested the last of the tomatoes.
We had it with rice and Madhur's Gujarati green beans.

And a can of ginger beer.

It was really nice but quite tart.
He didn't add the sugar, we never do with savoury food but I would be tempted to make an exception here.

My usual go to, of chicken thigh, stir fried with lots and lots of veg, no carbs, and a sauce of ginger, garlic, chilli, sherry, soy, honey and maple syrup. Simple, tasty, and almost healthy! My type of meal.

Yesterday I was having a rootle in the freezer and came upon a container of roast chicken with gravy so in the end it was a rather easy roast dinner, along with chopped roast potatoes with onion, garlic and rosemary, chantenay carrots and buttered curly kale.

Tonight will be even easier. Battered calamari with potato wedges and salad.

I am having nut roast and vegetables with gravy tonight. Just fancied it...

I had a piece of French flan for lunch.

As in this

(But not homemade.)

A friend from Cornwall had meetings in London and managed to find time to pop in for dinner last night. So we went out! We went to the Bell and Crown and I had the (new to the menu) Chicken Milanese with truffled wild mushrooms, cavolo nero, fried egg, roasted chestnuts & sage. It was absolutely delicious.

Tonight will be peppered mackerel salad

Haven't made kedgeree in years suffs. Might remedy that!

Tonight we had lemony chicken stew. It’s from a recipe I found in a magazine years ago. A one pot dish with diced chicken thighs, oniony/tomatoey base sauce, ras-el-hanout, preserved lemon, and giant cous cous added towards the end.
‘‘Twas tasty.

Last night it was a quicky of chicken, chips and peas … and this evening we had a Wrose pizza with roasted Mediterranean veg and a tomato and lambs lettuce salad. OH cooked it and made the salad.

That sounds good WG. I have a jar of unused preserved lemons, do you have a recipe?
Randomly, as much as I love to eat cous cous….I don’t think I’ve ever cooked it  .

Considering the magazine dates from 2015 I’ve managed to find the recipe online.

Giant cous cous is a very different texture to ordinary cous cous. In this recipe it seems more like orzo.

Ha, I'll take them off your hands, Amber :D I need to get a new jar :D
We add them to all sorts of dishes, and one of us on here, scully maybe??? sorry, can't remember, it was ages ago, suggested adding them to hummus.
They are wonderful stirred into the Claudia Roden sweet potato salad, she calls it, from Arabesque.
In chicken tagine, with green olives ... can't think of any more off the top of my head atm

That sounds splendid, PP.

I had a little souffle (Waitrose - needed eating up) with some carrots and peas for lunch, then an overly sweet little Lidl spiced apple dessert thing.
That was a lot more than I usually eat during the day, but only had bran flakes for dinner last night so was really hungry and feeling a bit weak!
The plan is to share a Flammekueche for dinner if T is interested and indeed I feel hungry.

Sausage and mash with onion gravy here. Same as EM on the other thread. I also used up the rest of the curly kale to accompany.

Mine was with broccoli and carrots. Really enjoyed it but have enough left for tomorrow - couldn't eat the slightly greedy portion I could have once!

Sounds good, thank you WG. Maybe with pasta or rice. My brain can’t cope with orzo  :? . It looks like rice, but….

Supper last night was a slow cooked beef casserole made with shin of beef from the farm shop, onions, carrots and celeriac, and juniper berries with beef stock. It was thick and unctuous and absolutely delicious. Haven’t had a casserole for awhile but it’s that time of year isn’t it? we had it with mashed potato and cauliflower in a béchamel sauce.
