I chose the "special" tonight. It was labelled "Birnen, Bohnen, Speck" and is said to be a local delicacy. It was very tasty and turned out to be exactly as described. It was two thick slices of boiled bacon, on a bed of green beens and pears. It came with a side of boiled potatoes.

Last night I cooked a salmon portion in foil with veg and had it with a small baked spud. There's some salmon leftover which I'm going to mash with spring onion and mayo to have in a sandwich with salad for lunch. For dinner tonight it's homemade burgers with coleslaw, corn, salad and oven chips.

Hmm, he says use the parsley stalks, presumably for flavouring, but then doesn't actually tell you to take them out

Some sort of seafood rice for us tonight.

Tonight I realised that i have been eating too much, so I had a salad.
When we were here in spring all the restaurants were offering aparagus. This autumn, they all seem to bee offering special menus with different versions of pfifferling mushrooms. Form Leipzig to the dutch border via Berlin and the north coast.

First couple of nights in Nerja we did tapas trails and spent about £25 in total each night.
Last night we ate at casa nostra. We had bought a couple of sirloin steaks and had them with new potatoes and a mixed salad. They were very tender, not quite as rare as we like but not bad for the first time cooking on the hob here.
Tonight we are getting dressed up as we have booked a restaurant with a Michelin grading (not sure if it’s a star or just a listing) and will be having the tasting menu. Looking forward to it.

Tonight we’re having a potroast chicken cooked in the crockpot on a bed of sliced onion and sage from the garden … I’ve made a potato and leek dauphinoise and will cook some tenderstem broccoli to go with it.

They all look nice.
Has anyone made fish cakes from sardines? My basic recipe uses tinned tuna or salmon and left over mash, I'm not sure how nice they would be with sardines.

A Vietnamese style steak salad tonight, with rice and probably some watercress or similar.
J has done the dinner prep and the dressing smells strongly of fish sauce.

Meat & 8 veg tonight. Slow-braised pheasant with HM & home-grown ratatouille plus Madhur Jaffrey’s cauliflower and potato with fenugreek and cumin seeds. There’s a bit of each left over. The cold meat will be served with (HM, home-grown) coleslaw & wedges tomorrow. The colly & potato will be served with dal & roti later in the week. I might do sausages with the ratatouille later still.

Last night on our hols. We ate at Les Falaises, a fish restaurant in Escalles, near Calais. The food was very good and fresh.. OH has the Assiette de Fruits de Mer followed by a Tarte au Framboise. I had a "Menu" which was smoked salmon, followed by slow cooked beef with veg and chips, then cheese.
The last bit was a small petit four with my coffee. OH had asked for a candle as it's my birthday...

I like sardine fishcakes but yes they are very fishy.
There's a little leftover chicken so I'll have that in a wrap with salad for lunch, Aubergine and black bean curry tonight based on a Chetna Makan recipe that uses mushrooms. When I made it a few weeks ago we both thought aubergine instead of mushrooms would work well so it works!

Plaice, samphire, new pots & runner beans on Friday, spicy pimped up roast chicken legs with a sort of greek salad on Sat. Cornedbeef hash last night, & tonight will be a hot & spicy Chinese spag bol with pork mince & ramen noodles.
I've never thought of making fish cakes with sardines - will give that a try!

I've made fish cakes with sardines, using the flavourings I usually add to sardines, hot sauce and spring onions.
OK but I prefer the sardines on toast or a jacket spud.
Saturday was a pork chop marinated in yogurt and spices then browned and finished in th eoven, also roasted a load of veg with it that I will work my way through, had some for lunch. I bought, on a whim, some dry harissa spice mix 0 I usually use the tubes, it's great for use in dry rubs and marinades,
Yesterday portion #2 of the lamb stew with Tuscan kale and peas and a small jacket spud, a big plate of food as I hadn't eaten while dashing round Open House

Last night we had a portion of chicken chili from the freezer. I have made a broth with star anise, ginger, lemongrass and chilli which I’ll cook some veg and noodles in and have it with a piece of salmon
