I love a good pea and ham soup.

Some lovely sounding food.

On Monday we had salmon roasted with a bit of pesto on with roasted veg and crispy potato slices. Tuesday we had chili from the freezer and I made some guacamole and salsa. On Wednesday I made keema and decided to turn it into a shepherds pie. It was so good. Last night we had a Chinese takeaway - the leftovers of which OH will have for lunch today and tomorrow.

Tonight we are going to friends in Bucks so who knows!

Which bit of Bucks Rocky? It’s famous for Midsommer Murders. Spot the village.

I’ll have to shop today as I’ve eaten all the food Ocado brought on Monday.

Oven has gone on with a late lunch of trout with dill stalks in the middle. Suffolk new potatoes, braised celery and green beans and a portion of onion tart tatin. Not sure I will eat a lot but maybe a kiddie portion.

We had paella, following my trip to the fishmonger.
It was good but I fail to create a crusty bottom every time.

I've been in using up mode
I had extra cooked Puy lentils from making my sausage casserole, so I made some lentil and mushroom burgers, didn't follow any one of the recipes I looked up but a consensus, perhaps because I wasn't actually following a recipe I forgot the cardinal rule of making veggie burgers which is to chill each stage like puff pastry so they taste great but have to be eaten by spooning the shards into pitta pockets (not really a big problem)

I unintentionally opened a second jar of sauerkraut, so I had 1.25 jars sitting in the fridge, I decided to have another go at choucroute Alsace style, obviously not going to use a massive array of meats for one person, so I got a small British smoked gammon from Sainsbury's (recommended), sliced off 2 steaks for later and trimmed the rest into chunks which I desalted in water for an hour or so. I also had a pack of Herta Frankfurters, I really should buy those more often, I'd forgotten that I like them! Another consensus recipe - onion and garlic sautéed, add juniper berries, bay leaf, pepper (no salt of course), drained sauerkraut, the meat, splash of white whine, splash of kirsch, brought up to the boil and transferred to a low oven for 90 minutes. Very good with a Vivaldi (variety) jacket potato,

Sounds great sue.

We had rib eye steaks las night, cooked medium rare, and sliced served over pancetta and pea risotto. Today was fabulous roast pork belly at the black dog. Delicious! Dinner if we want it will be a small portion of smoked salmon pasta (we were the 12pm sitting for lunch)

I made a use up stuff in the fridge soup yesterday, including potatoes, leek trimmings, a selection of rather sad herbs, celery, and I bought some parsnips as OH fancied them in it. I think that was all, I can't quite remember what else

Anyway, it was terrific! And we finished it off for lunch today.

Never to be repeated

Pizza last night.

Tonight we are having lamb shanks again, I managed to get some in Sainsburys this week. Not as big as the last lot from Morrisons but still big enough. They are in the oven now and should be ready when OH has finished watching the footie. They are in a Moroccan style sauce and I’ve had to put them in the lidded enamel roaster as my Le Creuset casserole wasn’t big enough. Lots of veg in the sauce so just need to sort some couscous to serve.

Agree the steak and risotto sounds fab.

Tonight it’s slow roasted belly of pork with crackling, apple sauce, braised fennel and carrots, roasted crushed baby potatoes with rosemary and sea-salt, and a sage-infused onion gravy.

After a pause we’ll have apple crumble and clotted cream vanilla icecream.

Lunch today was a bowl of roasted root vegetables and BNS, followed by a few squares of delicious French chocolate.
Dinner was a bowl of cauliflower cheese with honey mustard, smoked seasalt, smoked garlic and a lot of black pepper. Then a slice of (bought) strawberry cheese cake.

Last night we had a sort of polenta "quiche" ... I had roasted some veg and OH had made polenta. Normally he sets it on an oblong dish but a ceramic quiche dish happened to be out and so he poured it into that, I crumbled a load of soft goats cheese into it and put the roast veg on top, sort of pressing them down a bit into the still soft polenta. It was really rather successful and looked and tasted very nice!
