We had linguine on Saturday too, with a ragu that had been simmering on the hob for a couple of hours. I really enjoyed making it as I haven’t done a proper one for a few years probably, no recipe, just like I made it when the kids were at home. I’d like to think you could tell it had been made with love. Enough for two portions to go in the freezer too.

Sunday we had flat iron steaks with dauphinois potatoes and roasted Mediterranean veg.

Yesterday I needed to use up some filled pasta I found in the fridge when I cleaned it on Sunday. One day over use by date but still good. Jar of sauce too so a meal in minutes.

Tonight will be marinaded chicken mini fillets which I think will be griddled, with a Caesar salad.

We had M&S Gastropub steak and ale pies. We won’t be having them again.

Yesterday’s supper was a courgette frittata (Marcella Hazan’s recipe) and a green salad.

Thursday we had a Tesco Finest pizza - ham, mushroom and mascarpone to which I added extra ham, grated cheese and some sliced jalapeños. It was so tasty. We needed something quick and easy as we’d arranged a face time call with friends.

Last night I had a slice of toast as I had eaten lunch out (details on the eating out thread) and OH had a ding dinner of paella.

I have some sea bass for tonight but I really must make up my mind what I’m doing with it.

Last night I made chunky chowder with smoked haddock and some frozen 'seafood'. There's some left over but I had most of the liquid so I'm going to make it into a pie filling. Pastry and potato but never mind.

Lunch out was an 'Italian brunch' - basically a platter of cold stuff. IN theory lovely but a bit too fatty/oily. Luckily I had a T to help me out.
Just ate half a very small home grown romanesco roasted in smoked oil with garlic.

I think I need to eat something else.

I have not cooked since my procedure last week. Not eating much at all. I need to rectify the former but not necessarily the latter!

Supper today was Barnsley chops, roasted crushed baby potatoes with rosemary, buttered carrots, green beans and the remains of yesterday’s cheesy leeks, with mint sauce and gravy.

That sounds delicious Suffs.

I had a large piece of salmon fillet in the freezer, enough for two meals for the two of us, so we’ve had that tonight, roasted with a topping of harissa, honey, lemon zest and olive oil, served with aioli. As the oven was on I also roasted some fennel and we had some baby potatoes and broccoli with it.

We’ll have the rest tomorrow, served cold with some sort of salad.

I made a roast cauliflower coronation salad. Made too much dressing... which could be used as a dip. I am hooked on roasted cauliflower at the moment.

For lunch I ate the aforementioned cauliflower's leaves, steamed with lots of black pepper and good butter. It was really very nice indeed. I had a banana with naughty stuff after (squirty cream, a very little melted chocolate, low sugar cherry jam). Probably not worth the calories. First dessert in about two weeks, I think.

Toad in the Hole with 4 butcher’s sausages and a few chunks of chorizo that had been sitting in the fridge … it was very good.
We had it with green beans.

I knew you’re veggie Herbi, but I wonder if you could adapt this roasted cauli recipe…we love it. I think we serve it with the spinach stirred through the rice.
