Thank you. Yes, I think it would be easy to copy. I might not as it felt very indulgent and the cheese bit had a processed kind of taste it might be hard to replicate :D. I think one could make something very tasty from the ingredients and extra walnut.

Last time they started on Wednesday evening at ours. I won't be able to go and check... Going to a concert.

Provolone dolce but not piccante. But they do have the chocolate covered pistachios which are very moreish.

No walnut sauce, EM, that I can see. Maybe next time you are in London try Eatily.

It's Asiatic Cuisine week at Cyprus Lidl, starting next Thursday very few of the items shown in the UK leaflet are available, mostly frozen samosas and s[ring rolls, however they should be stocking their Crispy Duck, we have that in pancakes.

I bought a bag’s worth :) I don’t think I can recommend the lime and raspberry ice cream though. Tastes a bit like fruit salad sweets! (I like the sweets but not as ice cream so much.)

I think my best buy may have been a huge bag of the freshest bean sprouts I’ve seen in a long time - can’t remember the exact price, I think about 60p. Got some marinated tofu too, not sure what the flavour is and some tenderstem broccoli to go with it

Was that Lidl or Aldi, Sue? I have had the tofu from Aldi. Their marinade flavours are quite atypical!

Sorry Lidl.
They had very little in the way of either the Asian or the Italian offers left and were clearly having a big tidy up ahead of the next bout, which is the wine tour I think.

Gosh the Italian stuff went quickly then given it started yesterday. Maybe they will restock.

I don't think Sydenham has the right demographic for the Italian stuff to go that quickly but they do stock more of it than the other 'flavours of the week', so maybe it does.
They still had some frozen Spanish stuff left from ages ago until last week.
There was a lack of sauces this time and too many sweet things (imo) unless I was missing something. I may go back today if my Boots order comes in.
I tempted by the frozen pizzas but no room for one. Would have to let it defrost

Lidl have Branston baked beans on offer - 6 for about £3.50. But I see they are £3.75 in Saisnbury's. Not sure the difference is worth a separate trip in the car. Exactly how close to £3.50 and what side of it may be relevant.
Waitrose is not much more than Sainsbury's. Tesco is.
In the middle... they had a Harry Potter sandwich toaster :) (It imprints his glasses on the sandwich.)
They also had milk frothers for £20 in case anyone wants one. These things are usually the same design as Hotel Chocolat Velvetizers, but not sure if they heat the milk to the same temperature. (The Velvetiser doesn't make the milk very hot/hot enough imo.)

Well I mad sort of Thai noodles with one half of the tofu, some beansprouts, and some broccoli. Good.
The tofu is a little odd - the marinade is a base of tomato, paprika, onion garlic and parsley with "spices" - so quite Mediterranean, except that I thought the spicing was probably ground ginger and white pepper; not obviously representing any one of the 42 Asian countries I can think of - Armenia? Not known for tofu consumption. Academic, as the flavour of the marinade didn't really survive frying to a light golden brown.

Interesting how so much of the Italiamo range seems to have sold out in so many parts of the country. I wonder if they just ordered too little or it's become immensely popular. (OH commented that at the large Lidl we went to on the A40 at Acton he saw a few smartly dressed men in suits and ties examining the Italian section - must be a first for us at any Lidl! It was Friday, early afternoon. Ah, it's just struck me, maybe they were Lidl managers evaluating what was left on the shelves.)

We have a few Lidls now in this part of W London - on the bus today I saw that the former Wilko at Fulham Broadway Station is going to be an Aldi. There isn't one for miles around so am looking forward to it opening. No good for a "big shop" as no parking at all, but good for a few select items.

There was loads of Italian stuff in Lidl in Amesbury yesterday. It certainly wasn't pulling crowds. I'm not sure that all the delicacies I see London people mention always reach the provinces. Most of the things I saw were things I shouldn't really have. I did buy a jar of the cherries.

We didn’t have a lot of the stuff. I went at 11am on Thursday and there was no sign of whole lines being sold out.

No Lidls without a bus journey for me alas, there is an Aldi though, what should I hunt for in there?

mm, my friend swears that their pomegranate candle ( I think she said the pomegranate one, but, anyway, whatever they have) is as good as Jo Malone's ... but I've never managed to get one!
We have been given the Jo Malone one as a Christmas present from my cousin in the past, and it really is delightful - if you like scented candles, that is. Many folk don't.

Friends who have access to both say that their fruit and veg is better than Lidl's, but when I lived nearer an Aldi I tried them both and preferred the Lidl offerings, but that was a very long time ago. Their corn-fed free range chickens are good.

Apparently their Raspberry Sorbet is to die for!

Things I buy at Aldi, depends on whether I can get to a big one or only the little one, which is where I go now

Peanut butter
Barrel aged feta (also some other cheese if in stock, but the barrel aged feta is great)
Some fruit and veg and flowers (my Christmas flowers came from there half price on Christmas Eve, one of the girls had fun helping me choose them and get maximum discount)
Wine - never had a bad one from their premium range (now Specially Selected), the Athlon Assyrtiko Greek white is a bargain
General groceries, baking supplies in particular - dried fruit etc

I'm sure there are other things that escape me at the moment
