Hachi looks wonderful for a group meet. https://www.theguardian.com/food/2024/d ... ant-review

Not sure I’d be able to work out the menu though.

Good news about The Gallivant which I know well. (In the notes at the bottom).

she is just showing how out of touch she is.
who would 'have a steak bought in' to their work for them in the normal world?
i have worked in places where a sandwich/roll seller came round - never a steak seller.

I guess in these days of Deliveroo etc it is normal to expect that anything can be delivered when you want it. It would be interesting to know how much it costs to have steak delivered. A good deal more than a bargain pack of breakfast cereal which might feed a poor family!

This has been highlighted elsewhere. I was struck by
“Lunch is for wimps. I have food brought in and I work and eat at the same time. There’s no time…Sometimes I will get a steak,” she said.
Hahaha, not anywhere I have worked. I suppose I never really 'Made it'.

Hmm my suspicion is that (as well as being a prat of the first order) she's probably on a very low carb diet …

On another note, it looks like Grace Dent is in the running to co-present MasterChef.

she is so stupid she thinks she is showing off how elevated her dietary choices are

We used to have a nice motherly lady who brought round excellent sandwiches and substantial salads, she and I both worried a bit about our two young glamour girls who bought a sandwich pack to share every day, then we discovered it was just for elevenses, their mummies supplied them with packed lunches.

Grace Dent seems a sensible choice for Masterchef, already on the team, probably capable, a good contrast with Torode. Female too.

I hope so.

Wow, lucky you. Apparently there was a spate of 'Sandwich Wars' around here a decade or three ago, one woman started doing it then another muscled in, quite an argument the hairdresser said.

Only Angela got access after she’d been vetted by facilities- doubtless others in the area but only one in our building, large but with fairly tight security.

I have never worked anywhere that provided/sold food... unless you count my two free lunches and dinners at week at Pembroke College.

We had a great restaurant at the Hilton offices in Watford free toast in the morning and 3 courses for lunch service. Obviously the catering company ( which was outsourced) catered for meetings too

When we had a new building, for our company only, we had a decent canteen though not as good as the one in Berlin of course.
The best was GSK (Glaxo) at Perivale, they had an "director's" dining room no longer reserved for senior management, you could book a table for a special team event or a birthday, table service and quite decent food.

We had the same set up at the CEGB Sue. It was great idea.

Ah I forgot about the Virgin Megastore canteen. Cheap hot meals and free fresh juice, coffee, fruit and Vegemite and toast (until RB sold it. All the freebies went but the heavily subsidized food stayed.) We had a common room too.

T's office has a canteen.

Yum, I've always bought the potted shrimps ready made, it has usually been the easiest way of getting brown (Morecambe Bay) shrimps round here, though if Felicity can get them, I can.

Disagree on the white bread, prefer brown or in fact thin crisp toast
