I have had a part share in a portion of frogs legs once, long ago. My belief is anything done with cruises de grenouille could equally well be done with good smallish chicken wings, it’s a nice dipping sauce and the pleasure of gnawing them that makes the dish. No, not identical to chicken in flavour, but you could heighten the experience by adding a drop of fish sauce and watching Belleville Rendezvous, which I found slightly disturbing .

Another gnawer but I draw the line at frogs legs, or aren't they really?

Frogs Les are indeed frogs legs.

Apart from a certain squeamishness about eating pond life, the preparation is often cruel and unhygienic, most are imported frozen from outside the EU and there have been suggestions the supply may not always be sustainable.

I hope Café Francçois will get traceable supplies, or they will have a picket line outside, they seem to be easily available online, ~£20 per kg

My sample was from a big portion French OH was served in Gascony about 20 years ago.

I tried them in a seafood place in the States iirc, but have always felt they were a waste of a good frog.

Otters seem to be quite keen on them.

I suppose the legs are the only part to eat with a frog not that I have tried this at home.

In the 50s otter hunting had (controversially) been recently outlawed, the farmers hated them, supposedly they stole chickens or eggs or both.

We have otters in our local stream………the dog has learnt to keep his distance! Although I’m not sure if he is avoiding the otters or the mink that have also been spotted not too far away.

Bucket list, to see wild British otter, seen otters elsewhere and seen plenty of captive otter, not quite sure why they so engaging given that they have the manners of a drunken Hell's Angel and mink and otter are both (literally) stinkers, aka mustelids
