We have just seen the notice that our favourite hotel in the Calais area is changing hands. The lovely Béa Dubrecq at the Hostellerie St Louis in Bollezeele, is retiring. She and her husband took over 40 years ago. It’s been our regular stop on the way to and from the tunnel for the last 15 years. The hospitality and food is excellent, as is Béa’s understanding and help when circumstances changed at the last minute.

We hope that the new owners are at least as good, but it will be a hard act to follow.

That's a shame but after 40 years she deserves a happy retirement.

I've not found many places that I would class as a highlight at the very end of a trip to France but that hotel would be near the top.
