The family are descending upon us tomorrow, so I have baked a date sponge (for a sticky toffee pudding) and an apple cake, plus a couple of dozen chocolate chip cookies.

Has she discovered the Two Magpies bakery and coffee shop on Orford Hill Uschi? I don’t know if they do German style rolls, but they do make very good bread … as does Source on Upper St Giles Street.

So far this week I have baked, a lemon marmalade cake for us and a batch of mini m&m's cookies for our daughter. I now want a pie....I wonder why

The focaccia has turned out fine this time. It’s risen properly and it doesn’t resemble a biscuit! I’ve sent a virtual piece to Axel!

Re: What are you baking this week?
I need to make another batch of bread rolls. I may slip in some cheese scones as well. I have a Dan Lepard recipe for cheese and linseed scones that I have been meaning to try. I was given a tip years ago that the cheese in the scones should not be chopped too small, or grated, as it will amalgamate with the flour and the taste will disappear.
Re: What are you baking this week?
Ooooo love the look of the bread and the scones.
I just made a no-bake white chocolate cheesecake - does that qualify for this thread

Two dozen wholemeal rolls. One half dipped in sunflower seeds. I didn't do the scones. OH bought a cauliflower so I am making a cauliflower cheese for supper.

They look amazing.
I made some cornbread... from an American kit, so no buttermilk required. It is soooo sweet. Disappointing. It would have been lovely were it not for this.
Thing is I buy buttermilk to make it, then don't get round to it, and I can't easily 'pop out' for some if I suddenly want to make some, so the kit (although overpriced) seemed like a great idea. I shall try a sub for it next time.
