A Crosta & Mollica pizza with some extra toppings last night, nothing the night before, on the dodgy teeth and tum induced reducing diet.

I had a 'Mexican breakfast' in a cafe: spicy black beans with (entirely set) poached eggs, a thimble or two each of guacamole, and what tasted a bit like mango chutney, toast. It was ok. The cafe was attractive though. I then had a slice of quite plain vegan cake. Tasted a bit carrot cakey.

'Dinner' was two slices of bread and very treacly home made marmalade.

I made a cottage pie last night from beef mince. Had steamed broccoli with it.

As I mentioned on another thread, I used Morrisons frozen Base Mix diced onion, carrot and celery, very good. The friend who told me about it said Waitrose call theirs Sofrito but she thinks Morrisons is slightly nicer and cheaper.

I had a mushroom omelette for lunch made with frozen sliced mushrooms. Also good.

I made a Thai-style green curry with mushrooms, tofu, cashew nuts and peas. I had a bowl of that for dinner, then some little tiramisu ice cream thing from Lidl.

Lunch was a brown pitta bread with melted Maasdam cheese and then christmas cake.

That's quite a lot of food for me...

Chicken, tarragon and leek pie (see baking thread) made with the second half of Sunday’s roast chicken. It was very tasty. We had it with frozen peas (we rarely eat potatoes if eating pastry).

Chicken here too. Because I had to meet GD from school later than usual I put it on to roast with potatoes round it and just had to cook veggies when we got in.

Lots of chicken left to eat and freeze and then a carcass for nice stock.

Delias Basque.

It’s so much easier these days, when I can use a small pack of sun-dried tomatoes from Tesco, and a small pack of chopped chorizo from Sainsbury’s. Both a perfect size for two people.

And I add a large tin of butter beans too. Tasty.

BTW I thought I’d bought chicken thighs today, but when I looked at the label, they’re actually boneless chicken drum sticks. I’ve never seen them before, has everyone else?

OH was singing at Southwark Cathedral at the weekend, so she popped into Neals Yard Dairy next door. She got some Corscombe cheese. It's very nice. I may even prefer it to my "favourite cheese" Tunworth. We have had it for lunch over two days.
