Some of that makes sense and some of it not - to take the last one, I find wool (or cashmere) socks rather unpleasant, not worth a premium price for me and cashmere can definitely be ethically dodgy which they don’t mention., or if they did I missed it. Very cheap socks definitely uncomfortable. I think there was style over substance in that whole section.

I think the clothing market is distorted by the silly cheap brands like Shein, Temu and to a lesser extent Primark and Matalan. There was a one woman a campaign on social media because Shein were copying dresses by small labels that sell on Etsy etc and wouldn’t have the heft to challenge them, it was obviously true. Even if we don’t buy them though knowing that you can get a top for £9.99 makes a £70one seem more expensive, but maybe the better comparison is with ME+EM at £200+?

I’ve been eyeing up Patrick Grant’s Community Clothing, British made, ethical etc seems to be about the ltarget prices in the article

ETA, OH is a great fan of Community Clothing - he has got several T-shirts and, I think, a sweatshirt, and bought me a T-shirt.

I make my own limoncello…very easy…but the taste varies massively. It’s lovely to drink on a hot summers day. Remember those?

Or you could do as I do, buy them at your local baker lick lips, they are called Koupes in Cyprus

When I lived in Edmonton we had a (Turkish) Cypriot bakers at the end of our road. Their version of kibbeh was good, as were the lahmacun and the canoe-shaped flatbreads filled with egg and sucuk.

Love Lebanese food, one day I’ll get around to going to Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, similar food of course.

I love Lebanese cuisine.

PP - I was so cross when I read about J.O.'S book. Whilst the publisher has not done its homework, J.O. is an idiot.

The French restaurant he mentions at the end is also great - and very local to us, in Fulham. I think we may be making our way there for the set menu lunch soon! Anyone else up for it? lick lips lick lips lick lips lick lips
