Coincidentally, I got a text this morning from my dentist saying it was time for a check up. ;) :thumbsup

I never had any problems with my NHS dentist, while he was working, and would have preferred to stay with the NHS. The problem was he stopped at the start of Covid and never got going again with things like routine check-ups. Now that things seem to be getting back to normal he will only take private patients.

I moved to the private practice that did my crowns and implants, as I was referred there by by the NHS dentist.

From what I understand of the problem with NHS work is that dentists can't do the work for the price the NHS is willing to pay them, so a totally NHS practice is impossible - dentists need to do private work to be a viable business.

I had a NHS dentist in Leeds because it was in the building and it was in their lease contract that they had to offer NHS services. In all the time I went there there was only one dentist, who was only there for an interim period anyway, who was terrible. When I moved to the village we were just coming out of the second lockdown and I found a NHS one in Stafford and the dentist I see is really great. I found the practice via the gov.uk website.

Cheers

We are both NHS and always have been. Last Spring a day before flying to Rhodes, a filling fell out. In Rhodes it was suggested to me to pop along to the village dentist, which I did, half an hour later it was filled perfectly for 50 euros. OH (who had a similar problem) went 2 days later and she was closed on the Friday, we flew back to UK on the Sat.

We have been recommended a dentist in Zante town so have every intention of having OH's filling done there shortly.

Finally got to speak to the dentist today but she is pregnant and not taking any new patients. Back to a UK dentist by the looks of it.
