Re: Mayonnaise
This is interesting. I haven't found a commercially made mayo that I like much so will try some of the suggestions. I have made my own successfully but, as others have said, one tends to make quite a large quantity. Some years ago, my local Coop used to sell generous slices of British style baguette...

Re: Lamb Slices
The slices I saw were wafer thin with a generous amount of fat as you might expect from slicing it raw and very different from dealing with cooking a whole breast.
Apart from frying and serving in ways mentioned, I wonder if they'd work rolled up with a stuffing inside and cooked until crispy.

Lamb Slices
Saw these in Sainsburys the other day. Has anyone tried them? I've never seen them before. They suggest pan frying. I suppose they're a bit like bacon, better if the fat is cooked until crisp. I'm not sure how I would serve them (i.e. what with). Fairly inexpensive but they are very thinly sliced an...

Re: Bovaer
. I noticed on FB last night that several smaller dairies were putting up notices stressing that they were not part of the trial. I suppose both reassuring for some and the opportunity for extra trade for the dairies.

Re: Bovaer
I think it comes from people who are wary of any additive - though perhaps we all should be to a degree, especially if we don't know the right questions to ask. I can see those who want to buy raw milk increasing which may not be ideal.

Bovaer
I have noticed growing conversation on social media about Bovaer in the past few days. It is being trialled on a number of farms and a growing number of people seem to be checking which ones, so that they can avoid it. It is supposed to reduce methane production in cattle- which seems a good thing b...

Won't be reading more. What will be will be but I hope it doesn't go down very dark roads for the sake of any potential victims.

Re: Soaking eg Ham Hocks.
I agree with Suffs too. That said, if your kitchen or another room is cold at night as mine is, I wouldn't worry as the ham will be boiled during cooking.

Re: Foodies In The News
I mentioned yesterday that I felt that those older men suddenly accused of such misdemeanours should be judged by the standards (however low) of the times in which the accusations took place. However, I am familiar with acceptable workplace behaviour over the past 50 years and things did start to ch...

Re: Foodies In The News
How sad. Times are certainly changing, what with the congestion charge, ULEZ etc, farm shops and supermarkets. Those currently working there obviously think that a centre at somewhere like Dagenham would be worth it - but it might be inconvenient for those coming a long way from most directions. Wil...

Looks delicious ! You can't set up a stall without horrendous overheads - but maybe you could offer a sideline to friends for a 'donation'!

Re: Foodies In The News
As with the Christmas lunch/dinner in the UK, I'd like to bet that the majority of people don't want to jazz up the most traditional meal of the year a great deal. Slight changes maybe or have something completely different.

Re: What are you baking this week?
Scrumptious, Suffs! I wouldn't choose the chilli biscuits looking at the ingredients but as so many have recommended them will have to give them a try. It was the Stilton and poppy seed ones which someone once posted which caught on in my household. Similar recipe to this without sugar. https://www....

I can read the 25 dish and the 25 cookbook lists. Very interesting! A couple of dishes I'd not heard of.
