Re: What are you eating today?

I put two recipes together for lunch - I added cooked potatoes to an omelette masala and cooked it like a Spanish tortilla, topping with halved cherry tomatoes and finishing under the grill. Definitely one to repeat.

No real idea about tonight, might be fish.

Re: Foodies In The News

I always like the look of a masala dabba but wouldn’t want one. First I’ve nowhere’s to put it. Second they all have glass lids, and spices in glass in my very bright kitchen must go into a dark cupboard (or a tin). I once left a new jar of paprika out in the light and it went from brick red to sepi...

Re: Fresh Pasta

Food processor completely kneads a loaf of bread in 60 seconds, so I can’t see it requiring manual kneading as well.

Important to use the dough blade, which lifts the dough off the base of the processor goblet.

Re: What are you eating today?

I’ve had Kaletters a few times haven’t seen any for ages. Quite like them but one lot had tough central stems, as psb sometimes does.

As out just had some 4 cheese tortellini cooked with some broccoli and finished with a tiny dab of pesto.

Re: What are you baking this week?

Loaf looks great, I used to get big slabs of very fresh yeast from a food cooperative and freeze in single use portions, it lasted well but that was long ago, I've now given up on fresh yeast, all I can buy round here is little blocks of German imported yeast in yellow paper, extortionately priced a...

Re: BT/EE

I kept the landline mainly so that there was a reliable phone on a docking station, so I could find it in the dark, at all times. And when I made the decision using my mobile inside the flat wasn’t very reliable. As the VOIP phone doesn’t work in a power cut and the mobile service is now reliable (I...

Re: Aldi/Lidl specials - recommendations

I was a bit sceptical of "Montmorency Cherries" so I did kust a little digging, both the BMJ and the British Rheumatology society think any tart cherries will do (and the US NIH thinks cherries may really help), I suppose the idea that the cherries have to be the Montmorency variety may be...

Re: Aldi/Lidl specials - recommendations

Where did the cherries come from? Must surely be southern hemisphere at this time of year? Sorry about the gout, nasty, Doesn't it have to be "tart" cherry juice to benefit gout? Might be worth trying a Turkish or Polish shop, I see Aytac the major Turkish grocery brand have pure cherry ju...
