Re: Foodies In The News
It refers to the Rampant Rabbit vibrator available online and from Anne Summers hghstreet stores … apparently. I found the original ads inoffensive, it was an actual kid's toy, similar to those I'd seen in Hamley's a fluffy bunny wabbit playing a drum, but the current smirking, leering AI version i...

Re: Foodies In The News
Unfortunately it seems Gregg hasn't responded to the sort of intervention that worked for you Suffs, that has been the point I have been trying to make all along. The whole thing is a minefield, I complained about online "sexual harassment awareness" training rolled out to all employees fo...

Felicity’s braised red cabbage. https://www.theguardian.com/food/2024/dec/04/how-to-make-braised-red-cabbage-christmas-ecipe-felicity-cloake The use of dark brown sugar and balsamic would make that richer and darker than mine, which I've other wise done pretty much the same but using white sugar an...

Re: Foodies In The News
None of us were there, so we don't really know how bad Gregg's attitude and behaviour actually were What we do know, hard facts, is that there were enough complaints and concerns that Wallace was formally warned about his behaviour by the production company (Endemol), and that complaints and concern...

Re: Mayonnaise
You might have a problem with that BM; it’s the discontinuation of TTD that prompted the thread :( I wondered about Stokes, might try it next, I had some of their “aioli” which was a pleasant, mildly garlicky, mayo - not really aioli. I looked at Sauce Shop but it seems to be100% rape seed When I ma...

Re: Foodies In The News
That’s shocking One sentence leapt out at me China grows about a third of the world’s tomatoes :o - who knew? I looked at my tube, which is Lidl Baresa, mine is packed for Lidl UK but the survey looked at a sample from Germany. It says quite clearly that it is packed in the EU from EU and non-EU tom...

Re: Lamb Slices
Possibly the NZ lamb was intended for somewhere in the Middle East that it can’t now get to?
I believe most exported NZ lamb goes to the Middle East, which is why it is now usually expensive and scarce c

Suelle … SSue’s second post refers to Breast of lamb British Ultra thin Lamb Breast - £15.00 / kg Not cheap but accepted there's no waste as sold, and a lot of prep has ben done in boning and trimming I'm really not sure, I'm getting a sort of Mongolian BBQ vibe possibly? Yes, but if you follow the...

Re: Mayonnaise
Update: I've bought a little bottle of Biona Classic Organic, which seems to be pure sunflower oil, had a little taste, ok but under seasoned which I can correct in use; puzzled by the fennel and coriander which aren't detectable Sunflower Oil* (77%) , Egg Yolk* (8%), Vinegar*, Wheat Syrup (gluten f...

Mayonnaise
I can make mayonnaise, and may make it more often now that the price gap between sunflower and groundnut oil has reduced, but it doesn't keep too well and I like a small jar in the fridge for routine use For years I have bought Sainsbury's TTD, which was a continental style one, more highly seasoned...

Re: Soaking eg Ham Hocks.
It's about Brexit customs regulations, I saw something about it somewhere else recently, prevents re-export is all Some foods are labelled "Not for EU" in the UK to prevent them from being sent to the European Union. The labels are part of the UK's deal with the EU to reduce checks on Brit...

Re: Bovaer
Hmm - neither article goes for scientific accuracy, one says the enzyme blocked is in the stomach, the other says it’s enteric (intestinal). Which is rather different. Neither says whether the enzyme (which is not specified) is produced by the cows themselves or the microbes in the gut. I’d worry fa...

Re: Soaking eg Ham Hocks.
I have been known to taste, not being a great fan of very salty food
The small smoked British bacon joint I had from Sainsbury's recently was excellent - an even the slice I cut off and cooked as a steak (so dry) wasn't too salty. Will definitely buy another.

Re: Foodies In The News
Quite agree PP - also that Jay Blades is different, he appears to be perfectly acceptable as a colleague, unless, perhaps, you are in a close relationship with him Gregg feels a bit like a halfway stage - he has been carpeted, and it hasn't affected his behaviour (as far as we know of course) but ho...
