Re: Bargain Basement

Sainsbury's Christmas chutney was down to 18p a jar the other day.

I tried some in a Red Leicester sandwich and it was ok, probably a bit sweet for me, but it won't be wasted. It contains apples and pears and a spoonful will go nicely in a stew or a curry.

It's pub night tonight, although we will be home by 8 because there's a noisy quiz tonight.

I have taken a portion of chilli out of the freezer and the rice is soaking.
10 minute dinner when we get in.

Re: What are you eating today?

I fancied a pot roast this weekend so I went to the farm shop for some brisket. None to be had. The head butcher there is a very helpful and knowledgeable woman. Re: What are you eating today?

I was worried it would be too rich for our peasant taste but it was surprisingly nice.
I served it with plain rice which went well. Would have been better with a green salad on the side.
