Re: Foodies In The News

And … ??? Are we really still in a world where we assume anything written by a woman has been dictated by a man ??? I'm unclear about you point. I assumed bias was being indicated by PP. … . You’ve made my point for me! … the assumption that a woman holds the same views as her husband! How ...

Re: Foodies In The News

A tele-industry worker (now too old to be hired by it) reminds me that as a freelancer you can't complain. She was refused a job because she had a child. I have been asked at an interview whether I 'was going to have more children'. And now apparrently we 'don't have enough workers'. I wonder why.

Re: Foodies In The News

I bought some batteries yesterday … there they were, the package emblazoned with a pink Duracell bunny … that’s a sexualised joke isn’t it? But does anyone take offence … do they heck …. lots of mixed messages out there. I missed that joke/sexualised message but perhaps I am inured to it. I thought...

Re: Foodies In The News

Perhaps I’m a bit hard nosed about the subject but I’ve had to deal via my job with a lot of cases of sexual abuse of people who really couldn’t speak out … it makes me angry when women who could complain don’t … but then make woolly allegations later on when nothing can be proved … leaving more vu...

Re: Foodies In The News

It’s hot local news here, only 4/5 miles away. Same night a number of farms got hit and had their diesel tanks drained. Our tank is away from the house, OH has been paranoid about it - probably because we have just agreed a price with our purchasers for what’s left in the tank! BB Oh dear, that's b...

I love breast of lamb … Delish. My Sainsbug has a lot of heavily discounted (with Nectar Card) NZ legs and half-legs. Why? What is going on in Lamb Wholesale Markets? Who has let them down? It all got outrageously expensive at one point and the UK was quite brutal just dropping the imports, not a g...

Is that to me? Sorry if not.

As i understand it the UK is a free zone of some sort. It's the NI agreement keeping us from sinking into a swamp of dreadful food. Medicines I know nothing of what is happening there.

Re: Soaking eg Ham Hocks.

states that “… Boursin is made in Croisy-sur-Eure in France,…” I really doubt that they would be producing the same cheese to two different standards of hygiene etc in the same factory. Far too much risk of cross-contamination etc. So if it is up to EU standards why make a different batch of labels...

Re: Foodies In The News

You can only be a doormat if you lay on the ground and let people walk on you. That's unfair to those who are less robust or need the job or a whole host of other things. Male behaviour such as GW's should not be tolerated by anyone or have to be endured. Not only has GW gone down in my estimation ...

Re: Soaking eg Ham Hocks.

I'm afraid it might be judged unfit for the EU market and can be dumped on us with lower standards. There is a fear that our products could get in via Northern Ireland which is why some things are labelled not for EU. If it was up to EU standards why that labelling?

I've eaten the cheese now...

Brilliant, thanks Suffs, the way some people talk/write about it you'd think it was deadly poison.

Now to investigate why Boursin has 'not for EU' on it.
