Re: Beverages
I bought Monsooned Malabar here a few times
https://thecoffeehopper.com/
Haven't been up that way much for the last few years, since Mum passed away.
When I worked at my last place the coffee supplied was undrinkable.
I bought my own Alta Rica.
Best of the instants in my opinion.

Re: Beverages

Re: Beverages
We were talking about teabags recently.
I have used Yorkshire for years but recently I have found the strength very variable.
My current box is really really strong, a bit too much for an old bird like me in the morning.
I have now switched to M & S breakfast teabags and I like them.
Still use the teapot though, not keen on a teabag swirled round a mug.

Re: Beverages
I was reading an article on Fiona Beckett’s website about fino Sherry and one of the experts said that if you wanted to check out fino without spending a lot, Morrisons at £5.99 is a typical fino
Just had a small glass, really nice, good recommendations

Re: Beverages
Morrisons have a poorly advertised offer, buy 3 or more wines from The Best range, and get 25% off (England only I think)
I bought 4 bottles so it was 4 for the price of 3
Discovered when I put it away I’m buying wine faster than I’m drinking it

Re: Beverages
Our Morrisons has a different offer, any three for the price of two. Sainsburys (and I think ASDA/Tesco) also have 25% off six or more. (But not usually in their ‘express’/corner/local shops

Going back to gin, Bombay Sapphire £19 and Tanqueray £20 per litre at Sainsbury's today.
I do buy other stuff there too....

Re: Beverages
We (I!) keep stocking up on these offers, but I find the cheap booze seems to ‘evaporate’ very quickly

Re: Beverages
Yes, it's a problem here too.
Re: Beverages
It’s a well known fact that alcohol evaporates in the atmosphere. All you have to do is take the top off …
On Sherry, when we lived abroad and could get Duty Free, we drank Tio Pepe. When we returned to the real world we looked for alternatives. At the time, and it was years ago, Waitrose's Fino was vary similar. Nowadays we don’t live near a Waitrose, so I don’t know what it’s like these days, but the Tesco one is good and so is the Sainsburys version. It’s purely personal taste, but I like them better than Morrisons. We tried Lidl once, but never again!

M&S sherry is very good, if you can find it, in my local M&S food they hide it down at floor level
I mainly get the Manzanilla but the Fino is good too.

Thank you, Sue, I’ll look for it. Six o'clock just can’t happen without a glass!

Re: Beverages
Hub likes that M. Sherry but I shall have to take a look in M&S as I am struggling to find it anywhere locally.
On T. We normally find a T bag makes 2 very acceptable cups for us. I bought some Lapsang Souchong (loose) recently £6.25 for 225 grams. Good job we only use a pinch in our T pot along with assam for our morning cuppa. 225 grams should last the rest of the year.... Loose leaf tea is becoming harder and harder to find these days.
Wordle in 4, so easily could have gone for the wrong letter....

Re: Beverages
We were given a bag of ‘Good Morning Sunshine’ coffee. It’s very very nice but at approx £10 a bag, it should be !

We buy Dark Woods coffee quite often. Their roastery isn’t too far from us, just over the border in West Yorkshire. There’s a nice little brew tap in the same building.

Re: Beverages
I haven’t been buying very fancy coffee post-Covid, though I’m getting back to it as my sense of taste improves
For over 40 years my fancy coffee place of choice has been the Alg aka the Algerian coffee stores in Soho
I need to go and try a couple of suitable beans, most of theirs run about £6- £8 but they start at £5 and go up to £24.50 for Jamaican Blue Mountain
