I never deep fry anything,I'm afraid, but like the idea of roasting the marinated artichokes.
Has anyone done that?
We usually just use them as they are in salads etc, and there's a pork, artichoke and lemon dish we do.

I roast defrosted frozen artichoke hearts with great success, a nice nutty flavour

That does sound a good idea. Cold artichoke hearts don't particularly excite me but I wouldn't mind trying roasting them. I expect the deep fried ones taste nice - crumbing and frying helps a lot of things but I don't deep fry things either.

Jamie’s baked stuffed artichokes are excellentllent made with frozen hearts, though he advises you should only use fresh ones, no idea why

Definitely one for us to make soon!

I'll look for good tinned sardines - any recommendations?
ETA I think I may get the John West boneless ones
Do you think we'd need 2 cans for 2 of us?

Re: Foodies In The News
I'd be interested to know if tinned sardines, like anchovies, are totally different if you get good ones. I like ordinary ones but think I'd find them a bit 'fishy' in the pasta dish (which looks rather delicious all the same!). Annoying that she doesn't state an amount if using tinned sardines. Maybe look at the weight on the tin. I'd think 250g (her weight for fresh) would be more than one tin.

Re: Foodies In The News
I think tinned sardines are a bit of a niche thing. Year ago I can remember someone on telly (poss Floyd) telling you to buy good ones and turn the tin every so often so that the oil was redistributed.
I love sardines on toastt. One of my favourite snacks.

Yes, intriguing
And kudos to Jay for getting “macular degeneration“ into a restaurant review, which does suggest I may need a companion to locate the Ladies

And if, like me, you're into butter beans this looks good too.
