Thx all, will congratulate OH!

I'm afraid we were using up a packet that I had literally had for years and still had a bb JUNE 2019 date on it. They just took a bit longer to cook and I'm definitely getting some more with my occasional Waitrose order this Wednesday.

Massive vat of veg soup in the pan atm - sweet potatoes, carrot, parsnip, celery, apple, onion, garlic, dried mixed herbs, Marigold.

Not sure what tonight is going to be. Yesterday's will be hard to live up to, and the previous evening we had one of the best chicken risottos ever ... it's a good week for tasty dinners!

Orzo dish looks lovely KC2
Cannelloni for us tonight, some stuffed with spinach & ricotta and some with broccoli cheese to use some bits up. Topped with tomato sauce. We'll have it with salad and garlic bread.

ETA - it's lasagne instead I thought I had cannelloni shells in the cupboard - whoops

Oh no LTC. Hope that wasn’t too disappointing!

We finally got around to the smoked salmon pasta. We did as you suggested adding a diced red opinion to the pan first. It was absolutely delicious.

OH is going to be back from work late tonight. I have half a pack of fresh linguine left so might think of another new pasta dish. Carrot and coriander soup for lunch.

Your wonderful leftovers seem to be never ending, Rocky!

Orzo always seems to be something people have in the back of the cupboard to use up.

Nothing exciting here this week. Scrambled egg and ready brek whilst nursing a poorly tooth. I'd better make soup from all the lurking veg.

Yesterday's supper was a one-tray bake hasselback courgettes with tomato, feta and beans.

Yesterday's soup for lunch again today, tonight we're going to have braised eggs with leeks and za'atar, another new recipe from SIMPLE (p.6)

And I've ordered lamb mince from Waitrose for tomorrow's delivery to make his take on a lamb meat loaf later in the week (p.212).

Lasagne worked out really well thankfully. DS2 had what was left for lunch after two helpings last night so it must have been okay. :D
Jamie Oliver recipe tonight from his "7 ways" book - Ginger, garlic minced beef in black bean sauce.

Veggie bangers and mash tonight. OH's favourite and he needed comfort food as he had to sack someone this afternoon.

I use orzo a lot, especially in a baked pasts dish made with a spicy tomato sauce and lots of cheese.

Savoury mince. I didn't think to have this with mash to spin it out... (and to complete the 1970s childhood nostalgia/memories vibe!)

We bumped off the prawn curry for tomorrow night and instead had lamb loin with new potatoes, asparagus and zogghiu (Sicilian pesto). Only half a clove of minced raw garlic went in the pesto but my goodness it is repeating on me now!

M&S quiche with salad, coleslaw and half a baked potato.
Coleslaw seems to be my current fad.

WW, which flavour quiche did you have? The M & S ones we've had have been a bit disappointing - if there's a choice, we've found the Waitrose ones better.

We had a slice of Ottolenghi's lamb bake (a posh meat loaf!) with tahini sauce and tomatoes in some pitta with sauteed kale and tahini - yesterday we had it hot with green beans, as in the pic.

Another winner from SIMPLE. I can't wait to try what we decide to do next!

There have been some wonderful things here recently! 'Simple' certainly seems a winner, KC2.

Very boring here, just been eating soft bits and bobs while my tooth gap played up and then a salad with dill marinaded herrings yesterday and sausages with pasta, stem broccoli and carrots with GD here today. Really looking forward to something special when the tooth gap has healed.

Is anyone planning anything special for Burns Night?

It was Lorraine, and very nice.
My favourite is always a simple cheese and onion; and I avoid anything containing broccoli, too wet.
