Re: Beverages
Because of various post Brexit restrictions ( apologies for the B word) I have been buying Italian tonic water, they are not too sweet.
When discussed some people who do not like a G&T actually do not like Schweppes, I find it rather harsh and much prefer Fever Tree

Re: Beverages
Well I tried the Belvoir juniper tonic
On the plus side, not too sweet, <5% sugar
On the negative side, did anybody mention the elderflower? I really hate elderflower
If Belvoir want to make a dry Indian tonic (without blossoms) based on that recipe, I’m in, might Tweet them

Re: Beverages
I tried the Belvoir one too.
The rest of the bottle went down the drain. Sorry. I thought it was disgusting. Each to their own. I’m usually ok with the Bottlegreen stuff. Or plain tonic.

Re: Beverages
I have just had another attempt at the cranberry and clementine gin.
It is worse than I remembered; I had to hold my nose.
It will be offered to guests from now on.

Re: Beverages
Well, sister-from-hell springs to mind but I must not be uncharitable.
She is staying with Bro this weekend and has fallen badly whilst out walking.
SIL just let me know she is at the hospital, confirmed broken humerus, waiting to see if she needs surgery.
She might not be my favourite person but I don't wish accidents or poor health on her.

Re: Beverages
Being on the waggon for November and being 2 weeks in tomorrow, I armed myself with a range of drinks that I am happy to sip over the last 2 and the coming weeks..... Tesco Mexican double strength lime with sparkling water and a squirt of lemon or lim juice. Ginger beer with lemon/lime and a dash of angostura bitters. Black current with SW. I am currently sipping a tin of Tesco orange zero citrus fizz, it's not bad.

Renee, found Fever Tree ginger ale yesterday in Morrisons but no ginger beer, is that the one you meant ??? It was OK but nothing very special. The Old Jamacia GB is very fiery. Good with a squirt of lime juice in it.
I had a tin of low calorie Ice Cream Soda with supper today, a bit sweet for me.

I have been drinking Tesco sugar free ginger beer for years, but lately I have found it too sweet.
Maybe it's me or perhaps they changed the recipe.

Fever Tree make both ginger beer and ginger ale, they are different
I had an Old Jamaican sugar free ginger beer last night, that’s the one I usually get

No I think the recipe has changed - too sweet for me now too.
Re: Beverages
Has anyone tried the Lidl Cremant de Bourgogne?
We have some guests on Sunday and I was thinking about giving it a whirl!
I, unfortunately, probably won't have any as I have practically given up all alcohol but it would be v good to know if everyone else would enjoy it

Re: Beverages
K2C We have tried that one in the past and found it quite palatable.
I have just found some red fizz and have bought a couple of bottles to lay down for Crimbo Well out of his sight !!!!!
I also bought some spirits as I think, looking at supermarket shelves recently a lot of them are becoming empty which is a bit worrying.... for him.... I don't drink a lot of spirits these days. I did buy a litre bottle of Baileys for £9.99 in Morrisons recently but they were limiting purchases to 3 per customer. I keep my Crimbo bottles in the green house, he does not go in there......
I will keep my eyes peeled for FT ginger beer....

Re: Beverages
Part of my Aldi haul today was a bottle of Greek white wine made from the Assyrtiko grape, which anyone who has been to Santorini has probably tasted, they make very good wine from it, the Aldi wine is from the mainland
Several wine writers are tipping it as the next thing, and on the basis of one small glass, it’s good value
Their own write up is accurate I think (Aldi usually is)

.
Stokey - sounds almost Chablis or white Burgundy like - especially the mineral/citrus/crisp/bodied notes. Did you find it so? The bottle looks very typical white Burgundy-like too. I nosed around online and there seems to be an Assyrtiko Sauvignon blend type as well - in a Sauvignon type bottle. Greek iterations of classic wines ...? Amazing price - it's three to four times that elsewhere. Worth buying half a case if that good
Will definitely keep an eye out. We have an in-the-know sommeliere in the family - shall ask if she's come across it.
What is classified as exotic cuisine, I wonder?!
