Does Anyone Else Love....
The. crispy blobs of cheese that drop into the grill pan when you make a toastie?
Especially when they have gone cold.
Plongeur's perk

When we were teenagers my friend would grate cheese onto tin foil and then grill it - she was always on a diet of some sort and this was cheese on toast without the toast!

Pistols at dawn, Suffs...
I sometimes fry cheddar till it goes stringy and crispy. There, my secret's out

Oooh yes! I believe that if you do the grated blob thing with parmesan you can serve them as posh 'nibbles' and call them parmesan crisps .

Serve them?

Not to mention the crusty cheese at the bottom of the cheese fondue ....
Re: Does Anyone Else Love....
It ranks high on my culinary charts, along with the skin on rice pudding. Eat your heart out Jay Rayner.

MIL made a pudding with custard most days.
She didn't indulge in the pud but she always scraped out the custard bowl.
We don't have puddings very often.
When we do I leave a couple of spoonsful of custard in the jug, for me later.

When we were kids, my mum used to make something called "Cheese Pie" - which was in fact, mashed potatoes with about a 1lb of cheddar grated into it, and more on top. Dumped in the oven until browned.
We used to fight over the "crispy bits"

Re: Does Anyone Else Love....
That sounds like proper comfort food.
I would eat it with peas and HP sauce.

We used to have cheese pie at my prep school, a Friday favourite. Think it may have come with mushy peas
I like the "nose" off the end of a baguette, was always a bit of a problem in my family, 3 people, 2 noses... then I found that nobody in my BF's family liked it at all!
Nigella reckons crispy brown bits are an entire food group, she has a point, I too like stray cheese blobs

Yes to all the above
Re: Does Anyone Else Love....
Yes, yes, yes!
(and I’m not a big cheese fan!)
But I love Parmesan crisps.

I like the nose end of baguettes too. I like the crusty ends of loaves and cakes, etc. So did my father. We used to fight over who got the 'pudding end' as they were always known in our family.
I still make cheese pie as you describe. It's lovely with baked beans but I must try it with mushy peas too.

Woe betide anyone who tried to put mushy peas anywhere near my lovely cheese and potato pie.

I love bacon rind ... crispy on a grilled rasher ... delicious ... but even better is the slightly chewy rind from a piece of of boiled bacon ... mine, all mine

That reminds me of the skin and everything that hangs round pig's trotters after they have been well stewed. Luckily there's only me to get the lot ...the marrow from oxtail, or neck of lamb too

All of the above and the bits of skin that stick to the tin when roasting chicken. Anyone pinching those will find themselves minus several digits. They're mine and mine alone.
