Forgot to post yesterday but had tapas for lunch . Ham and cheese croquetas which were amazing , devils on horseback with a Sherry aioli, Patatas bravad and tortilla with homemade aioli and watercress . All really tasty and spot on .
Off to the golf and country club for afternoon tea later , so may post more pics then . Have a good Saturday all

What a yummy weekend, AmyW!
Re: What's everyone cooking this week? 2
It was a lovely treat … standard sandwiches of tuna/cucumber , ham/mustard and egg mayo . Had the best lemon tart I’ve ever eaten , incredibly crisp pastry , then a banoffee cupcake , chocolate truffle , macaron (which aren’t really my thing ) and a very light crumbly scone with standard accompaniments. Nothing massively innovative , but every part done well .

Oh that looks lovely Amy, a proper treat.
Last night's burger and fries "fakeaway" really hit the spot and was just what we fancied after a day of gardening. Slow roasted shoulder of pork for us this evening

LTC, looks great! Were they h-m buns?
No I'm afraid not - they are Tesco St Pierre Brioche burger buns. Unlike some brioche buns they aren't too thick or sweet and are suitably floppy/soft for a burger.

Leftovers for us today in the form of roast pork, gravy and stuffing in a tiger bread baton with extra gravy to dip (I made lots of gravy so we would have plenty left ) served with corn cobs, wedges and salad.

I think I'm looking forward to it more than yesterday's roast dinner tbh Amy and I really enjoyed that.

I used to visit a part of my company in the West Midlands and there was a local café that did hot, home cooked meat (beef, turkey, lamb and pork) on bread with stuffing and gravy (and you could buy extra gravy if you wanted it) - I became almost addicted to the turkey! It was to die for!

Sounds fab Pampy, when I lived in York there was a stall near the market, next to the baked spud cart that sold the hot roast meat or sausage and stuffing sandwiches. Many a night out ended with a trip to one of them (and many an outfit dripped on ).

They have gravitated into a couple of shops now LTC, always busy especially with tourists as they offer a good value meal option in a city that’s becoming more and more expensive. One near the Shambles and another in Stonegte.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week? 2
last nights meal included:
madhur jaffrey's falafel,
claudia roden's moroccan carrot salad (simple but really good),
sabrina ghayou's lemon, saffron, and yoghurt chicken (made with quorn)
tabouleh made with amaranth rather than bulgur,
honey drizzled, roasted aubergine slices,
hummous,
marinaded olives,
za'tar, zhoug, tzaziki, and (very fiery) harrisa.
followed by a very gooey, chocolate and tahini brownie (it should have been halva but our daughter couldn't source any so did some adjustment) with a gorgeous cream cheese/sour cream sort of thing flavoured with rose and cardamon, i think. i will be getting the recipe or instructions from her it was so lovely - and for the brownie.
and a couple of large, 1kg boxes of cherries - tesco had obviously had an over-ordering episode - there were stacks of the £4 boxes reduced to £2 each.
the boxes were reduced to a very small bowlful by the end of the evening.
i think that was all - oh, and pita bread - gf and ordinaire. those were the only items not home made.

It certainly does! I suspect we'd all like the recipe for the creamy rose/cardamom thingy.
Your 'sandwich' looks good too, ltc. Beats a bit of white sliced and dry mousetrap! I'm not familiar with the sandwiches with dipping gravy you all mention but can see it might be ok.I used to like the hot steak baguettes you could sometimes get with fried onions but don't think I've had anything else like that.

An American import I think EM but one to definitely try, the extra gravy to dip the sandwich in makes all the difference (and a tad less messy to eat, though a tad ) and it's a handy use up of leftovers.

At our barbecue on Sunday DDS1 had sourced some fabulous beef, rump steaks I think, and had marinated them in Jack Daniels overnight. His partner James grilled them very lightly and then sliced them into mouth-sized bites and piled them high onto a serving dish. They were really, really good. Apparently JD steak is a thing. Naturally I’d never heard of it.
And I can also attest to Ben&Jerry’s vegan Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream being very good indeed.
Pat, have you been to a White Brasserie yet with your weekend chap?
