Breakfast
This is the first morning we have taken brekkers on the patio this year. Banana bread with passion fruit topping is very good (I find passion fruit too sharp otherwise).
OH has, in addition to the fruit plate, a bowl of cereal, toast & marmalade and a cup of coffee. What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Re: Breakfast
I rarely have breakfast ... if I do I like a soft-boiled egg with toast soldiers, followed by toast and marmalade.
OH makes himself a special porridge for breakfast every morning ... this is what he does, in his words ... put half a cup of oats in the pan, tiny bit of turmeric, raisins, three quarters of a cup of water, stir it all up and cook ... put into bowl and add chopped walnuts or toasted flaked almonds, blueberries or other fresh fruit such as chopped apple, or raspberries or strawberries if available, about two dessertspoons of thick yoghurt and a pinch of cinnamon ... it is delicious!

Re: Breakfast
Today we had a slice of toast and lemon marmalade with a cup (for me) or mug (for hubby) of tea each. More or less what we have most days.

Re: Breakfast
I'm having my usual just now - a slice of seedy bread toasted spread with butter and marmite and a mug of tea. It's pretty much what I have every day.

Re: Breakfast
It varies but today I was going to have a bowl of fruit and granola, however when I cut up the peach and put it in the bowl with 3 leftover strawberries it was too full to add milk and cereal so I ate the fruit then a little walnut bread with butter and honey
Strong black coffee is the key part of breakfast though, local people ask why I don’t go to the coffee place over the road, but I want my first coffee before I’m fully washed and dressed

Re: Breakfast
Normally weetabix with fruit and milk, coffee to drink.
Toast and marmalade on a Sunday, but I have two very hungover young men this morning after drinking cocktails all day in York then at home for a bbq later, so a full English brunch has been requested.
Should be ready in a few minutes. It’s badly needed by DS’s uni flat mate who needs to drive home to Liverpool later today.
Sausages, bacon, eggs, fried new potatoes, black pudding and beans. Toast etc for pudding.

Re: Breakfast
Many posters having the same thing everyday for breakfast surprises me.
Some days for us it's chelsea bun, or pain au raisin, or a danish pastry, or cereal or banana bread. On cooler days it's various eggy dishes, or porridge, or warm croissants. Maybe it's because we're retired and aren't pressed for time, but a leisurely breakfast with the papers is a civilised start to the day.

I would count a cappuccino - lots of calories.
I have black coffee 5 days a week, and add a banana on the two mornings I go out for my voluntary work.

Re: Breakfast
Sunday is our "treat" breakfast day.
OH goes to the Little Waitrose at the end of the road while I stand up for half an hour after taking my weekly osteoporosis medication and treats us to their delicious chocolate torsades as part of the requisite £10 to get a free Observer.
By the time he's back, coffee is on the table.
Today we had breakfast outside but normally we sit and watch Dateline London on the BBC iPlayer, which is a really good half hour discussion by foreign correspondents based in London and gives you revealing insights into how the rest of the world is viewing Britain. Steve Richards is also quite a regular "home" contributor and there's always one of the BBC specialist journos in the studio with the presenter.
The rest of the week we share a cut up apple and banana, with blueberries or strawberries if we have them. I have kefir and sugar free muesli with mine. OH has Greek yogurt.
We used to have toast and home-made marmalade but OH said it left him wanting a sugar boost mid-morning so we gradually weaned ourselves off that.

it's a 'made at home' one and made with less milk than a café version so not that many - less than 100, i would say.
i, too, get hungry mid morning if i have breakfast - so i don't. it's easy to do the restricted time eating that way, too! (my cappuccino is taken closer to midday, usually.)

I favour 'restricted time' eating too, which is why breakfast is usually just black coffee. I'm also a person who isn't hungry until I eat something starchy, so most breakfast food does more harm than good for me, as it substantially increases the amount I eat during the day.
A banana on the two mornings I work gives me a little energy boost, and I don't have the opportunity to eat during the rest of the morning, which I would do if at home.

Re: Breakfast
Today was Sunday so we had curry, we mostly do on Sundays. Saturdays are usually fried rice days or Dan Dan noodles. Mon to Fri OH has porridge and I have nothing.
Lucky for us we're both able to eat anything at any time.

Re: Breakfast
I tend to have the same breakfast every day, it saves thinking. Usually it’s a yogurt and a banana, or stewed apple - we have a Bramley tree which doesn’t know when to stop, and a drawer full of stewed apple in the freezer. In winter a bowl of porridge with stewed apple is terrific. However, on Sundays it’s our habit to have toast. I know. Big deal. Sometimes that is the only bread we eat in a week and it’s a real treat.
When i was younger I’d be quite happy with cake and lemonade, then as time went on, a full English was lovely if we were away, or sometimes we’d go out for breakfast and have something like that, but I don’t think I could face it now. Sometimes we have it as supper, instead.

Breakfast a very special occasion for me. Maybe once every three months?

My favourite breakfast treat is a grilled Craster kipper .

Re: Breakfast
We have a special treat called Going Out for Breakfast, we go to one of the 5* hotels, it takes all morning and we do not eat for the rest of the day. Not possible at present but one day it may happen again

Re: Breakfast
My breakfast is at least three (large) cups of tea - no fruity/herbal stuff but proper builders tea....!
After that whatever I 'pick' on - definitely not a b/fast person - but The Lushly is, so have to join him now & again - nothing involving granola etc. more cheese & hams, boiled eggs, cheese on toast etc. etc. - it has been known on many occasions for me to have the remains of last nights dinner for brekkie )- including curry - usually when I'm on my own........

Re: Breakfast
There was a time when I stopped eating breakfast; but then I realised I needed some energy in the morning. These days, I always have breakfast; might be a couple of slices of toast, with cheese or peanut butter, or a sandwich , or very occasionally, yoghurt with fresh fruit and honey. Other days, I might have an omelette with re-fried potatoes or a full English.
One thing though; I can´t stomach breakfast for at least 90 minutes after getting up!
