And Australians. I suspect it’s not the religious festival it is in the UK.

Purely commercial over here, I think. And PP is right, Oz follows the American Mothers Day in May.

That sounds wonderful Mimi, you deserve it!
It was mother's day here, too. My DiL is a florist and had to work like mad in the run up to it. :D

The orchids sound wonderful! What colour?

A white on and a pale yellow one. I already a a light purple one.
Our youngest daughter worked in floral design for years.
Mother’s Day and Valentines Day were a nightmare for her.

Wonderful, Mimi! Enjoy your orchids.
Just wondering what kind of orchids they are. Phanaelopsia? They last for weeks. I bought one for the wife on Sunday ( Mother´s Day here, too). A white one, with two sprigs of beautiful flowers.
I spent the morning today re-potting the orchids ( Cattleya) I´ve got in a big wire basket , hanging under a tree in the front garden. Cut back the roots, re-pot them ( or , in this case, re-basket them  ) and wait for next March until they flower again.
We used to have about 150 different orchids, but back in 2019, I was away for 6 weeks in September, then another 6 weeks in December. The bloke I asked to look after them didn´t do so, and then the roof ( which protects them from the sun) collapsed while I was away. I´ve only got about 50 left now :crying1 , but they´ll survive.
