One of my Fitsteps friends has asked for recommendations for a company who can deliver a vegan meal either ready made/or finish at home to be delivered to Bewdley in Worcester ..... I said I didn't know, but I might know someone who did ... ;)

Hi PatsyMFagan. Earthmaiden suggested Cook a few posts back, which I noticed do a range of vegan ready meal dishes that I wouldn't mind trying myself when I empty some freezer space. KeenCook2 said she'd tried a couple of their other meals. It says "Delivery to a UK address of your choice."

Stem & Glory is a vegan restaurant and is doing home delivery across the country I think. Someone on here mentioned it a couple of weeks ago but I've not tried it yet

A friend in North Wales had one of their "signature" boxes delivered and said it was fantastic. They got several meals out of it.

As both OH and I have birthdays in March and April we are very tempted!

We had some special dates last year so spent out on some treat ones.

Banquist Theo Randall - the food was good, but it was so much work & washing up it didn't feel like a treat.

Haar at Home - this was amazing, so much less work & really good. We had the Land & Sea when there was a very special offer & also bought the Arbroath Smokies (how many bones?!!) as we'd never tried them and the corn bread (delicous). Lobster & crab were very fresh, but not very big. Excellent rib eye steak. Dessert way too sweet for us.

We recently tried the Professional box from Haar/Matthew Ryle one. Again pretty easy to prepare. Quite good, but some bits missing, & some not as pictured. The instruction said to pipe the cheese custard into the Comte gougere, but they must have realised by the time they did the instruction video that they wouldn't puff up again on reheating,so they changed that to pipe on top of them! The steak, entrecote way too much fat & bone proportion to meat for our liking.

Cote at Home was more just like a ready meal, okay but nothing amazing. Both times the boxes arrived well over chilled temperature with very few ice packs (only at the bottom), cracked plastic trays & the cream sachet was already off in one of the desserts. Loved the creme caramel though. Their butcher meat box not the greatest. Great to be able to get Mimolette cheese though, as I wanted to try the recipe from my Michel Roux cheese book present.

We rather rashly decided to try Burger & Beyond as we've had no takeaways in over a year. Very, very greasy & the first time I've deep fat fried anything in decades! Not for us, but quality of ingredients not bad, if you don't mind your burger seeming more fat than meat, I know it’s flavour, but there were inches of it to be poured out of the pan!

Plus point most of them were enough for lunch as well as dinner for us. Which also saves the leaping up & down in between courses to cook the next.

Thanks for the 'Cook' link. The meals look really good and sometimes I need a short break from cooking. However, my freezer is so full at the moment. I must start using things from it again!

Renee - and anyone else who's interested, this COOK voucher in their latest newsletter just popped into my email:

Forgot to say it's only valid online or at COOK shops - so wouldn't have worked at Booths for you, Pampy

Everytime I hear the words "food boxes"
it reminds me of the many visits of fire
department made to the dorm when I
was at university;when some idiot tried to
reheat leftover pizza in the delivery box.

That's an interesting link, just had a quick look at it and noticed a couple of things - I was surprised to see Virgin Wines (realfoodhub? - I guess wine is wine and maybe they have a lot of organic wines) on there, and I hadn't realised that Camisa's had gone entirely online.

This always irritates me a little - food is surely "real" if it is non-toxic and provides useful nutrients?

A jam butty made with sliced white bread is real food to a hungry school child in need of calories

We ate at Fishworks on Marylebone Lane, once, and have been getting their emails ever since!

Looks like they're doing an Easter menu ... https://www.plateaway.com/product/feast-box-for-4/
