Saffron

Postby Sloe-Gin » Sun May 22, 2022 8:35 pm

I admit, I have been lucky.
My friend has been a frequent visitor to Iran and has supplied me with the best saffron, which I have used rather a lot.
She has now returned to Aus and my saffron supplies are dwindling.
Can you recommend a good supplier of it please?
Or pay for her to go back to Iran....

Hi SG - Spanish saffron is good and easily available and orderable online for example:

https://saffrondirect.com/product/ellor ... h-saffron/

Ellora Saffron is very common in Spain and is good.

I bought this, by Fudco from Sainsbury when I ran out during lockdown, it’s decent but not the very very best, handy to know you can always pop into Sainsbury for it though. As it’s Fudco, tends to be in the world foods aisle, nice packaging

Brindisa is probably the best I’ve bought in the UK

We use quite a bit of saffron and we've found the Fudco to be the best of the pnes in that sort of price range ... and you get that dinky little glass jar to do something with too ...
