Only another week of doors to go - my, we are getting through them, aren't we!
So ............
WHAT'S BEHIND THE DOOR TODAY?????
*opens door*
Did You Know that cats and dogs can be allergic to each other?
Now, that is one factoid not to be sneezed at
'Till next time!

Spring ventures forth to plant the grain
And Summer dries the straw.
Autumn gathers in the harvest
And Winter shuts the door.

Re: Goodwill and Custard !!!
according to simon king (the wildlife photographer not a hairy biker), some years ago, the really good way to attract owls is to make a kissing sound - it works, i tried it, the owl lost interest when it realised it was me, though, and flew off again from where it had come to perch nearby. i think the noise must sound like a vole nibbling something.

Goodwill And Custard!!!!
It's Day 19!!!!
So ..............
WHAT'S BEHIND THE DOOR TODAY??
Did You Know that the red-capped, white-spotted fungus usually depicted in cute pictures of gnomes aimed at kids, is the Fly Agaric, which is actually quite poisonous.
I once knew a mushroom expert - he was a fun guy (sorry!)

Re: Goodwill and Custard !!!
I went to the Thetford Center Parc years ago with a friend. There were fly agaric everywhere in the woods and my friend was astounded - she hadn’t realised that spotted toadstools existed in real life, she thought they were just part of fairy tales
Re: Goodwill and Custard !!!
they're called fly agaric because they can be chopped up, mixed with a little milk and put on top of a cupboard (well out of the way!) where they attract and kill flies - useful!

It's Day 20! Not many doors left now!
So ......
WHAT'S BEHIND THE DOOR TODAY????
Did You Know that it's STILL technically illegal to eat mince pies at Christmas?
A factoid to chew on and digest, methinks!

Re: Goodwill and Custard !!!
The mince pie one isn’t actually true though. This website has some interesting information on laws reported as fact https://www.lawcom.gov.uk/app/uploads/2015/03/Legal_Oddities.pdf
Re: Goodwill and Custard !!!
It is illegal to handle salmon in suspicious circumstances.
this is one of my favourites - i wrote it on a vase i made a few years back.
(i think (hope) it may refer to poaching rather than any other pastime...)

Did You Know that in a 1686 treatise, clergyman Jean-Baptiste Thiers instructed people always to laugh discreetly, and never on workdays, Sundays, holy days or during Lent or Advent?
Sounds a cheerful sort of chap, doesn't he!
