It was good, but not stunning. On the other hand, the cauli wasn't overwhelmed!
Because we had a rather large cauli I made one and a half times the quantity.
We're looking forward to the left overs today as it may be that the flavour needs a bit longer to develop.
I opened a brand new sumac, so I can't blame stale spices.

Will update after eating the leftovers ....

We had it with quinoa and thick Greek yogurt.

OH is out until a late lunch. She only has two church services to organise today...

So I thought I would try something that I've never done before. I thought profiteroles, but change ge my mind and went for eclairs. Just out of the oven. they look OK at the moment. A bit uneven in size and shape, but I'm sure they'll be OK when filled and coated. I don't have enough cream in the fridge. i think that the local Indian Tesco around the corner is open today.

just to say that the cauliflower leftovers were not quite so underwhelming, and actually went incredibly well with the beetroot leftovers from earlier in the week. Not sure if we'd do it again, though.

aero, yum, love the idea of eclairs! Wish Bushey was a bit closer to Hammersmith

Well, they're done. I topped with a ganache and filled them with a Chantilly cream. Yet to try one.

OH has just arrived home. I'll let her be the guinea pig. :)

The shiny ganache highlights the unevenness of my piping

I made 16! That was the recipe, more or less. There are only two of us, will they freeze?

wow!! Yes, I'm sure they'll freeze. After all, the profiteroles you get at Waitrose and M & S do

ETA I've always steered away from piping, anything, whether sweet or savoury, so have solid admiration for anyone who does it!

OH says that they are fine. In practice, i think they may all disappear before they get to the freezer! ;)

OH made the butterbean and kale tonight https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyl ... odern-cook
Surprisingly nice! He was a bit worried it was just one of those recipes that just throws disparate ingredients together but I liked it, especially the walnuts.

We had a big bag of kale to use up and so I looked for something we hadn't done before.

My sister made bagutte dumplings as part of dinner last night. Very simple and tasty, I'll be giving them a bash as they are basically stale baguette soaked in milk, egg, herbs and seasoning shaped into patties and fried in butter. https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/boeu ... with_17690

Interesting LTC, I’ve come across bread dumplings in German and Austrian cooking, but not French

Yes me too but poached and I wasn't that bothered about them. The fried version was a revelation. :yum

Great description, they were not unlike large fried gnocchi but much lighter in texture but dumpling/crouton hybrid completely nails it. Thanks

They look deliciously wicked (in both the old and more modern sense of the word!).
