When eating meat - the crisp golden bark on roast lamb, or even a lamb chop if lucky

Bread fried in sausage fat which still has all the gubbins in it.

Yes to the lamb bits, big no to bacon rind, crackling and everything Pat likes - all the more for you!.

I love pork crackling but these days my teeth are a bit afraid of it. :o

I like really crispy fish skin too, especially the bits stuck to the pan.

Day of the youngest's Christening, and we had the godparents to lunch before it. I'd cooked a leg of pork, with lovely crackling, and broke a tooth as I bit a piece of it. Not the best memory.

I'd possibly be prepared to swap some crispy chicken skin from the roasting tin for some crispy fish skin or pork crackling. ;) One of my friend's make the best port scratchings which are (probably quite literally) to die for. A few of those with a :cocktail: or two drunk in the sunshine have been the start of some very good get togethers over the years. :D

I have just roasted some sausages for dinner, much prefer them cooked in the oven.
It seems to intensify the flavour.

Anyway, J has been working in Newcastle this week, on his way back tonight and the A1 is closed.

Silver lining, I got all the crispy bits from the sausage tray.

While we´re at it...
Typical bread over here is not a sandwich loaf. It´s something called a "canilla" - a bit like a softish baguette.
My FIL and my wife both pull off the ends before anyone can get to them. :D

I used to pick off the ears(?) from a loaf where the top crust breaks away from the bottom and there's an ear at two corners of the bottom part. My mum used to play 'ell saying it looked like a mouse had chewed it

Oh, and another one, thick custard (B Eye powder made) left to set to form a thick skin. Best scooped off with chopsticks as it sticks to the stainless steel of a spoon so the spoon gets it instead of me - Noooooo.

What's the difference? Either for me, plus "eating the pan" of course :D
