Odd cake

Postby Pepper Pig » Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:41 pm

I have just found a cake I really can't be doing with. This is unheard of! Am a glutton for the RTC aisles and OH likes cake so today in Waitrose I bagged myself a carrot cake with passion fruit icing half price.

https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/ ... 982-497983

It is absolutely horrible.

Is it one flavour too much?

I like carrot cake and adore passion fruit but I’m not sure I would put them together, neither needs the other, if you see what I mean.

Yes BB. I think the flavours just don’t blend. It’s made the passion fruit, which I usually love, taste like soap.

I gets a high proportion of low reviews, but of course, you only know that after you've bought it, when you're tempted in the shop. :D

I would have been tempted too, and would expect to like those flavours.

Over-spiced and dry seem to be the biggest criticisms, rather than flavour.

Yes Sue. That’s spot-on. And soapy.

I can see how it wouldn’t work . I think passion fruit is such a beautiful flavour , it really needs to be the star of the show .

Proper Carrot Cake needs subtle orange icing. It doesn't sound like proper cake or icing! What a shame.

Well, that's better than if he'd refused to eat it, at least. And you won't have to chuck it.

I must say I find it hard to think of any cake I have really disliked - maybe I'll have to give that one a try and report back!!

I guess it'll join your selection in Room 101 :D
