Perfect Singapore Chilli Crab
Now this is the sort of thing I need someone to cook me rather than try myself.

There is no way this can (or should) be replicated at home - it is highly messy - definitely talking a change of shirt here however many napkins you use - & you'll never get that wonderful 'taste' & atmosphere - I lurve lurve lurve it - but only in Singapore..............
Tried it in Norway.........okay..... but not the real deal!

Re: Perfect Singapore Chilli Crab
It looks reasonably simple, but I might get the fishmonger to chop the crab - or use frozen soft shell, which can be used as they come
Some of the comments are hilarious, apparently it's impossible for folks to envisage chopping up a crab shell and all and immersing the chunks in sauce, even though both the instructions and the pictures are clear
My big problem would be that I'd need to eat it outdoors (or in the bath) naked but for a large apron, or I'd be picking bits of shell and sauce out of my clothing

I utterly adored Singapore chilli crab, still remember it it even though it was 20 odd years ago.
Perfectly ripe mangoes should also be eaten in the bath, since I don't have a bath I just wear my dressing gown, Chuck it in the wash and me in the shower straight after!

We went to the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow many years ago. I kicked off with a small plate of Fruits de Mer and went on to the Singapore Chilli Crab. Mrs B (she might not have been Mrs B at that time) had a small dish of scallops followed by a fillet of fish, each of which look far less time to eat than my equivalent dish. It was a lovely meal, but much more of a spectator sport for one of us.
