Wild about Chatter ... Vol 6

Postby Suffs » Fri Apr 02, 2021 1:12 pm

Whoops! A typo nearly resulted in us getting ‘Wild about Batter’ ... not totally inappropriate I suppose

Here we are ... a new place to chat to each other ...

Wils about Batter would be an excellent idea. Fish & Chips anyone?

Good day everyone. I did type morning but then realised it isn’t.

Goodness you lot have been chatty. Took me ages to read back.
Well the day started off cloudy but it has brightened up considerably and there are now several patches of blue.

Quiet day I think. I have to decide what to do with the large-ish piece of salmon fillet I’ve got for tonight. I will probably roast it in one piece so there will be leftovers.

Enjoy your day.

Oooh yes ... really looking forward to fish and chips on Cromer Prom or outside the Dunwich fishermen’s wives’ café on the beach. :yum

Brrr! It’s only 7C out there...we’ve put the heating back on ... hope my pear blossom is going to be ok as the temperatures plummet over the next few days ... the buds are fat but not quite open :|

Looks like a lot of us are having salmon today ... OH bought us salmon fillet ... I had suggested he got some battered haddock but he said there was someone standing near those so he picked up the first fish he came across that had no customers nearby. We didn’t get gammon steaks for the same reason, but he did pick up a piece of sirloin steak for me instead :yum

We're not having salmon Suffs! The fish lady in Waitrose had some beautiful-looking undyed smoked haddock on the counter. OH's favourite fish these days, so I will poach that for him. (Our grill is unpredictable).

University Challenge final on Monday. There's a taster in today's G.

5/15 here. Pathetic!

Sorry, again Suffs.... will leave the bird pic where it was, though.

was confused as vol 5 was still at the top of the 'announcements' list.

But yes, looks pretty buzzardy... (!)

A buzzard has virtually no tail. A red kite has a forked tail.

I wouldn’t say ‘virtually no tail’. ‘Our’ buzzards have pretty wide ones that fan out to use as a rudder.

Scroll down to the 4th pic on here ... looks very like Herbi’s pic https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/trees- ... s/buzzard/

Ah I get my second jab on Thursday . The lady I’ve been looking after with COVID luckily had her first jab , so only had it mildly . Would have been interesting to see how she would have been without it .

Well people , drumroll please after being at work since the 21st March , I finally finish work in the morning as all our tests are negative . Hope you all have a wonderful weekend I certainly intend to !!

Well done Amy! :)

I've been down, straight in, had jab, waited the 15 mins after and I'm home again. I think a cup of tea and a hot cross bun is in order. :)

Welcome to freedom Amy! :wino

We had GD's new-found favourite food, smoked haddock, yesterday. Tonight will be lots of veg and whatever easy thing I can find to go with it.

Talking of birds, when I met friend for coffee on Tues in a secluded NT spot, we watched for ages as a crow tried to pick up and fly with a very large, long stick it thought perfect for its nest. It was too big and quite ridiculous but it wasn't going to give in in a hurry but couldn't get the balance right. It (he?) had already discarded a thicker piece of wood which wouldn't have made comfortable nest. His partner turned up with a perfect sized stick in (her?) beak. It was so funny, I'm sure a case of a male trying to show off and looking a fool in the process.

We had a lovely walk along a stretch of canal. It was cold and windy but then changed completely and became so hot and sunny that coats had to come off. It's been a glorious afternoon. I walked the furthest I have for months and so won't feel guilty about being a bit snoozy for the rest of the afternoon.
