Broken quiche case
Hello
I used the end of a roll of bought pastry to line a small, foil quiche case but unfortunately it was so delicate that I managed to break it irrepairably after I'd blind baked it.
Any ideas? What would you do with it if it happened to you? It was very small, so there's not that much of it.
Thx

Re: Broken quiche case
The only thing I can think of is whizzing it to crumbs and using it like breadcrumbs, or biscuit crumbs for a dessert base (with sugar), but I think, in truth, I'd probably put it out for the birds!

I agree with Suelle.
Make a curry, give the pastry to the birds!

Re: Broken quiche case
If you are putting something savoury in it, perhaps you could brush some beaten egg over the break and pop it back in the oven for a minute or two so it sets.
Re: Broken quiche case
Thx, Suelle, the sub for breadcrumbs are a good idea. I'll pop them in the freezer for when we're next making bean burgers.
Pampy, unfortunately it's simply not patchable, the lining I used for the baking beans tore a crumbly hole out of the very thin base.
It was only a bit of left-over short pastry I didn't want to chuck. If it had been puff I might have made a few cheesey or choclatey twists or something.
Edited to say I've given up leaving food out for the birds because the only birds that ever get a look in are massively fat pigeons. The little ones I'd actually like to feed - sparrows and robins - never get a chance!!
And then the pigeons leave huges deposits of bird poo on the decking!
