Re: Chatterbox 2
Thanks Sue. I have to say I didn't think the problem had ever gone away as it's happened to me several times in recent years and I usually buy fairly good quality batteries. I do try to remove them if I know I won't be using something regularly.

The thing I thought people might not be aware of was the issue with the batteries included with things - I use my big torch, and it’s fairly new, it wouldn’t have occurred to me the batteries would be that bad, I do take batteries out of things like fairy lights when I put them away

Speechless about the whole thing. They've said for a while they're running at a loss - all the more reason to have dealt with it sooner in a better way. I always feel repulsion when I see the word Dubai. Not the original place but what it has become.

I don’t see how this is going to help their cash flow
They didn’t follow redundancy procedures, so although the British crew have less employment rights than on the EU registered boats, they still have a claim for unfair dismissal, that will take up time and money
And I think P&O are about to be on the receiving end of one of the few consumer boycotts that might actually achieve something

Re: Chatterbox 2
The P&O pre-recorded ‘sacking’ said they were being ‘made redundant’ and other lower paid workers would take their jobs … my understanding of redundancy is that if the job is still there it’s not ‘redundancy’ … I was made redundant when the Arts Centre closed. I was on the possible redundancy list at Soc Services but it was proved that my job still existed and I was kept on. OH was made redundant when the Farm Shop closed therefore his job no longer existed.
Am I missing something? To me they’ve been sacked not made redundant.
