I just came to say I’d now seen the book article online

I am tempted by Claudia Roden and Rachel Roddy, though bemused as to why the reviewer(Killian Fox) thought working through pasta A to Z would be “a gimmick”, wouldn’t like to try finding anything in his record collection :D

I had a suspicion that writing cookbooks was a mug's game unless you are Delia, Jamie, or Nigella, but I hadn't appreciated it was this bad

I think they may actually be the same figures for non-fiction books in general.

I agree, PP. I think the market for anything is so swamped by internet that people only 'find' things that get really good PR across the range of media these days. Out of 5,000 cookery books, only a small percentage will.

Yes and no - I suspect it’s quite extreme within a single genre
