I don’t know if it’s just my palate but nothing on this list is in the least bit appealing.

I know what you mean, BB! With flu-like illnesses, Tom Yum Soup might be ok. I suppose these are comfort foods for some.

Scrambled egg on toast for me! At school, we did a whole section on 'invalid cookery'. It included beef tea and fricaseed brains. Most important was the tray with pretty tray cloth and flowers to make it look appetising.

The Norwich restaurant looks good, Suffs!

As one who is recovering from the lurgy, my first thoughts were ... Where will I get all these ingredients from. I do though have a poussin in the freezer ;) :thumbsup  8-)

Most of the suggestions did nothing for me apart from the 2 with toast ... baked beans on toast and cheese on toast are both my favourite comfort foods - I must need to up my game ;)

Ramen definitely do it for me, if not feeling up to much I’d use a good packet and add all the stray veg, some prawns or crab sticks and an egg

When I was recovering from Covid my sense of taste and my tummy were both dodgy, I’d make a rösti and top it with fried eggs and Sri racha

I also like a jacket spud with a filling, and as I batch cook and freeze to reheat in my combi oven there’s usually one handy

I used to make khichri - rice and lentils - when migraine had upset my stomach.

Thanks for posting EM.
Logistics on the ground are so much more immense and more complex than imagined or expected, even given the givens.

Over the weekend, The Guardian ran an article about the stripping of wild garlic from the hedgerows of Cornwall.

Later in the same edition, there was an recipe for wild garlic macaroni...

A sobering read about the dying art of the sensory experience of food especially amongst many children. It took me back to our first week in Australia in the 60s when several greengrocers shops graced every high street and the amazing smell of melon and other exotic fruits beckoned you in. It has stayed with me forever.

The Gilbert Scott at St Pancras used to do a fab one but I see they've closed. :(

Down the road there'll be a food bank somewhere and across Europe there are thousands of hungry refugees. All's well in Marlow though and I think it's probably ok as you are paying for skill, ambience, fine ingredients lovingly gathered, keeping people employed and something to delight the senses rather than nourishment - and even in our hours of most need we dream of having our senses delighted. Long may we have the freedom to aspire to such things.
