Re: Foodies In The News
Little bottle of Ecover stain remover with built in applicator, sorted, use it on my white napkins
Re: Foodies In The News
Oooh, that sounds really useful, Sue, if it works on white napkins, and, presumably, white shirts!! Worth knowing about
I must look out for it.

Re: Foodies In The News
When DS1 was a chef and DS2 a KP I swore by Napisan for removing hard to shift stains from their uniforms. I never came across any food stain a steep in that overnight before washing and then drying in the sunshine that wouldn't shift.
Re: Foodies In The News
you can remove/reduce turmeric (and lily pollen) stains using sunlight, too.
when i couldn't get rid of a red wine stain on a favourite t-shirt - i soaked the whole t-shirt in more red wine. it turned into a rather nice navy and pale, brown-ish stripe rather than navy and white.

That looks ok
Was trying to think what was there before, but i think the answer is nothing interesting, it's the new space at the base of the flats

I wish the first picture didn't remind me so much of Heinz tinned Spaghetti Bolognese.

Those look good, she annoyed me last week bye listing 10 tablespoons of olive oil as an ingredient (not 150ml) - then wehn you read the recipe it was actually used as 4 in the dough and 6 in the toppong, grr

Felicity's carrot cake!! https://www.theguardian.com/food/2022/j ... asterclass
I had always thought that carrot cake was made with oil, rather than butter.

Re: Foodies In The News
I was just going to post the exact same thing KC2. I had the most brilliant recipe, it included sultanas and I think used walnuts rather than pecans, but it definitely had oil. I wish I could find it now because it was stunning. I think it was from an old M&S book.
I love carrot cake.

Re: Foodies In The News
There are several things wrong with that for me, butter, wholemeal flour, and cream cheese frosting which I really dislike
I made the usual Yummy scrumy carrot cake on Monday for Tai Chi yesterday, the only change I made was cardamom instead of cinnamon, a popular change as it turned out - and no icing as I discovered I had no icing sugar

Re: Foodies In The News
That looks great Sue. But I’d still have to have the frosting. It’s the whole point.
Re: Foodies In The News
The recipe you use looks good, Sue, although I really like Felicity's cream cheese frosting.
Only 50g sugar to a packet of cream cheese, and a lemon ... I can't cope with using the quantities of icing sugar that always seem to be required, so basically never, ever make it.
Not to say I won't eat it if someone else does but it's just one of those peculiar "things" I happen to have

Re: Foodies In The News
There must be so many recipes out there! I haven't got the recipe but carrot cake was the 'signature' cake made by a work colleague in the very early '90s. None of us had had it before and we loved it. It contained oil, walnuts, sultanas, cinnamon amongst other things and had orange flavoured cream cheese frosting. I wonder if it was the M&S one? I've rarely found one so good since.
