Looks delicious, Sloe.

Your biscuits sound so lovely and festive, Uschi.

I like the look of that! :)

When I started baking again after retirement, I tried several types of bread. One was foccacia. I think I made it twice. I can't think why i haven't made it recently. Maybe I'll do it again soon. :) Perhaps it's something for the granddaughter...

they are copied from a pub we stayed at (an inn?) up near you a few years ago.
fry up the sliced onions and peppers with garlic, salt and black pepper. let cool then put in pastry cases and top with the smoked cheddar. bake for about half an hour at 160 fan, 180 ordinary.
they were large and the main for our meal, there, but they work well as canapé sized tarts, too.

I've got "hussars' buttons" or "angel eyes" in the oven, small, jam-filled biscuits. They are doing well so far. I filled some with red currant jelly and some with apricot jam. I may make some piped biscuits with raspberry jelly later.

i have a wodge of shortcrust pastry, in the fridge, to use. i can't make up my mind whether to make mince pies or savoury biscuits with it - or something else.
hmm - maybe crecy pie.

I'd go for savoury biscuits .... because I never make them and absolutely love them, so someone else doing it for me - what's to say no to

I confess, I have no idea what crecy pie is - does it have anything to do with carrots?

I agree.
Carrots aren't my favourite veg but Crank's crecy pie is quite nice.

I have promised that we'll make Christmas rocky road this weekend. It's making my teeth ache just thinking about it :D

I've had a bit of a baking marathon today ...

2 kinds of mince pies - one sort using Mary Berry's mincemeat recipe in a recent Weekend magazine and the other (smaller ones) using my own recipe of a vegan filling (an experiment). I made my own sweet pastry.

Mary Berry's Walnut Cheese Biscuits ....absolutely delicious and hard not to scoff the lot.

Sausage rolls

And my first attempt ever of American Style muffins. I caught one of those YouTube videos that pop up on FB .. this one used half tangerines in the bottom of the cake case. I adapted the recipe using some kefir instead of buttermilk together with the flesh and juice of the 2 tangerines to make up the liquid required and add flavour to the mix ... My mix filled 24 cake cases :? ; but only 12 with the tangerine surprise in the bottom. I will have to test drive those ... Slightly disappointed that the muffins baked crooked - not sure if that means my oven isn't level ....

Oh and my kitchen looks like someone has had a flour fight in it
