Well fired rolls and a bottle of Irn Bru is the "go to" for many (including my kids) the morning after. I'm not a fan of the "made from girders" stuff but for a well fired Mortons roll with lots of butter, crispy bacon and good splodge of HP and I'll be sharpening my elbows :D .

You may have seen 'on another thread' that tonight's supper will be burgers ............. so I've made a dozen soft white rolls

Very nice Suffs :thumbsup .

I really must start making my own burger rolls. I'm not impressed with any we've been able to get in our on-line shop. I need to find a good recipe to make it worth the time and effort.

It was this very simple and straightforward recipe from the BBC Good Food website

Today's supper sorted ... cheese and tomato quiche (with cheesey pastry and a generous handful of chopped chives from the garden in the custard)

Suffs, any chance you could give me the 'recipe' for your custard please, I can never seem to get the right set?

Oooo that quiche looks fantastic.

Madeira cake this morning, to go with our afternoon cup of tea. I followed Nigella's MIL's recipe.
It's as light as a feather. Bit of lemon, tiny bit of vanilla.

Both bakes look good.

That was my thought too, slimpersoninside

Yes, they do.
Interesting brownie idea, Amyw.
I checked out the recipe, Gill, and will definitely make it. It looks great. But I can never stop at one slice I'm afraid

Haha no , a proper side plate . The recipe is from a Pinch of Nom but instead of 16 portions which are tiny , I cut into 8 .

Oh dear! I sort of do it by eye ... that's a fairly deep 8" flan tin and I used 3 largeish eggs and a few tablespoons of single cream ... OH likes a fairly firm quiche so I find that single rather than double cream does the trick. Then after blind baking the case, I fill it and put it in the oven at 180 fan for about 10mins then turn it down to 160 for about 10-15 mins, and take it out when it's feeling set ... testing by pressing gently with my fingers ... it gets a bit firmer as it cools.

Yesterday I did a batch of blue cheese & walnut scones using up some Roquefort and walnut pieces. Also one of those tea loaves that Betty's was doing a 'bake along with' last year.

The old joke about scones doesn't work if, like me, you pronounce them to rhyme with cones, but they're still gone. :D

Today I baked the Swedish seed bread. I'm not sure that I've made it since I joined this forum. I got the recipe from the lady that ran our bed and breakfast in Sweden. She served it every day for breakfast, among lots of other things! It's basically a sodabread.
